    sly multi room, been caught???

hi all, lookin for some advice...

a friend of mine has seemingly caught using sly multi room in another premises...
to give a bit of background..

he pays a legite sub for a full sly package with multiroom...
he uses his multiroom box in his place of business(pub) to cut costs...
today both boxes (both sly+ boxes not connected to phone line) were switched off.
he phoned sly tonite and was told "we have the technology to detect that you are using a domestic box in a place of business..."
    is this right???
or have they just looked into who owns the business, home address and put 2 and 2 together.....
    any help appreciated...

paying a proper sub is out of the question...

they are lookin for over a ~~~~in grand a month...

this will surely push the price of a pint up, and being my local would like to avoid this at all costs...

i am a total sattelite noob, any help much appreciated....

sky seem to be doing a very good job of pricing pubs out of the sky sub market, hence the forigen stuff (apart from the 3pm ko).

the bubble will burst eventually ant then sky will come running back to the landlords begging for forgiveness.

If he has been showing domestic sky in his pub then I am 99% sure than he has been caught.
The simplest way is a FACT inspector walks in looks at the TV see sky sports on it but where is the pint pot symbol on the screen.
Nothing he can do I'm afraid he will also now no doubt face a fine.

You can look here for yourself.

Licensee fined ?5,700 for domestic Sky cheat - General News - Morning Advertiser

Licensee?s second domestic Sky prosecution - General News - Morning Advertiser

Pub boss gets ?22,000 Sky fine - General News - Morning Advertiser

That is only the tip of the ice berg.
He would have been better showing a foreign sat channel for the footy, at least then he would have got just a warning.
Case for this is due before the European Courts.

          .
Could you somehow photocopy a pint glass and stick this in front of the tv.
          on acetone

Can't see why it matters, as the punters are stuck watching that channell.

Like counterfit money, so what, you have it spend it, why illegal.

if the landlord goes to say Virgin Media and pays for the domestic 'free calls any where any time package' and lets ANYBODY use it, so what?

what is puzzling me is that they could swith off his sky box without even seeing it???
maybe it was just the names/ address...

i was thinking of letting him get a box out out on my address for the pub...
            is this a good idea???
            pitfalls??
            i just want cheap beer

is it not just a civil matter, like parking illegally on private ground?
              or is it enforcable??

is a video sender an option?

                OFF TOPIC:

BOC folks walk into garages looking for their bottles, they call the office, to see if they have an account.

you say they belong to xxxxxx garage that has an account. Whip them bottles of yours to whoever and stash theires, the inspector goes, looks and is happy, wait a week, swap back, this is an UNCONFIRMED rumor

sounds like hes been very lucky to get away with it for years,
IMO don't get involved as hes taking the piss with sky , let him fall on his own sword don't fall with him mate.

                    or............................
you could offer him a room to rent at your house and then he may take out a sub with sky in his name but then he may want to move out from yours taking all his belonging as well as his new sky box with him , but i would ask him to pay you ?1000 in rent upfront first, wink wink.
                    muti rooms a nono

what about a sling box? anyone used one?
