spiderbox or dreambox

hi all,

ive been searching the site for a few days trying to learn and its been very helpful.

Im confused with which receiver to buy the two in mind are the spiderbox 7000/9000 or dreambox 800hd

from what i read the spiderbox comes with a free gift 12 months acess to a server which enables you to view encrypted channels the amount depends on what your antenna picks up,after 12 months you buy access.the spiderbox is closed source which accepts c lines

i have read how good the dreambox is especially linux and open source and perhaps is more versitile than the spiderbox although a bit tricky to use than the spiderbox which is plug and play

is it better to have linux or not?
my understanding on card sharing is that i pay a server for a channel package,but ive also read about local cards can someone explain more on this please

Thay both have good and bad attributes, its really a personal choice of what you want to view. We can not discuss CS on here, but a spider / protek box is CS but they call it a gift. The DM will open 39e with softcam but very little else with out CS. Still waiting to see what is happening to the spider boxes that are a year old.

Must admit though a DM or TM box is really the way forward the...

good and honest advice if i was you i will go for dreambox as these other box about months you will find out the support not good for your box honestly and dreamboc its been for 10 years now and the support is wonderful and for c s look around in google search because its not allowed here in this forum

Every other person i know who owns a spiderbox is having sleepless nights with it.

Its very unstable, the so called gift is crap as you cant watch anything without constant glitching and freeze for minutes. Most of people who buy this box almost end up looking for a cs account somewhere to have decent TV.

Dreambox 800 is the way to go in my own opinion. Support is all over the place and now with the new L3 tuners the box operate flawless-ly. But just like what notluckyuk said above, you need CS to operate it

The problem with the Spiderbox is the more of them that are sold the crapper the share or Free gift has become, and because people have become aware of theft or misuse of there C:line by people using them on Payservers, less and less C:line's are available for Commericial Use as people eventually find out how there C:lines are been misused and in some cases been Sold on for a Profit or as a free gift with certain receivers.

A dreambox does not come with any Free Gifts, but its still regarded as a pioneer in Satellite Receivers by hacking enthusiasts, Yes you have to do a little learning, but once mastered your set up for years of TV viewing and the latest advances in opening Channels what ever method at any particular time.

I would not suggest you to buy a Clone Dreambox or indeed a Spiderbox, Both are well outdated technology, any Opening in future Encryptions like Nagravision 3 will require one of the more powerful receivers such as the Newest Dreamboxs 500HD 8000HD or the soon to be released 800HD-se (Not the current 800HD Model) or any of the Vu+ Receivers Solo /Duo .

I say this as a New Card is to be Released on the 10th of Nov stating that Nagravision 3 will be opened they are called Liberty & the Zebra 2 both are expected to open Sky Germany and other providers eventually, any transition from Card to Receiver by EMU/Keys will require a more powerfull receiver than old Dremboxs or Spiderboxs.

Buy a New Model high Spec Receiver it will last you much longer than a Cheap model that has been on the Market for years or thrown together to take advantage of current trends.

no m8!, the dm800 will open bulsat/rai/tvglobo/mezzo/sic-int/equida1+2/arqiva and some of the *** channels on sirius when used with the correct cam emulator and softcam. the dm800hd will of course also connect to a bb line for cs but as you know we cant discuss it. lastly the card that supposed to open n3., i dont think it has materialised although i could be wrong. regards mdt

i think alunfennel gave you good honest advice dont buy clone or spiderbox ,buy genuine boxes like dreambox 800 hd se or the 500hd with c/s but when you buy dont but full year service only 3 month because there lot of dodgy c/s around

Why buy genuine when there are good clones. More dm800 owners have clones than originals on most forum sites.

i have a genuine D500 that i bought 4 years ago..

I have had to reflash it once, its been on 24/7, drives a motor effortlessly via gotoXX, has never froze, never got hot and is always responsive to FTP...

I have seen D500 clones not drive a motor, constantly fail and be ready for the bin after 12 months..

get a clone D800 and put it next to a genuine D800 or D500HD running Gemini and the difference immediately noticeable
