ok i was told by a member yesterday that the global star 9500 is a clone of protek i asked at the shop who are selling it and was told its not.
in some cases is a clone a better box or are they all rip offs thanks

Dell, Acer, HP, Compaq are all IBM clones..

Still decent PC's though aren't they..

As in life you will get a decent clone of something, eg a HP and something shite, eg a Tiny PC

As you were told yesterday in a similar thread, the Globalstar 9500 and the Maxx1000 are clones of the Protek 9600

I'd avoid any of these fly by night boxes.. the gift, server or whatever its called this week will not be around long..

Open-source Linux Box is the way to go..

The clone should work fine m8..this box will give you all the footie you can handle plus great movies and the adult stuff too..
just get a motorised dish cos the packages it opens are over various different satellites..
the server is totally free with no time limit on it!!
also very stable with almost no freezes,and been running now for nearly 2 years with just 3days down time when they had to re-locate the server...
take no notice of the *****s with dreamboxe,s who tell you that it wont last long..asi said in another post,they were telling me that 2 years ago...and i can find the posts to prove it!!!
the only benefit a dreambox has over this box is you can watch sky uk through cs...and i myself have a sub so dont need 1...
Also anyone using a dm to cs has just as much a chance of being cut off as the free protek server!!!

technically incorrect mate, your box connects to one server, i have over 25 on mine..

your protek server goes tits up, your shagged.. one of my servers goes tits up, i've still got 24 others..

you have had two years, that's pretty decent.. but how long will it last..? ask anyone who bought an Innovative receiver if their super server is still going..

plus i thought you went from the protek server to another one via Newcamd..???

These boxes are very good, my only problem with them is your are limited to one supplier..

I don't use my DM for Sky UK, like you i have a genuine full HD package, and my card stays firmly in my Sky receiver..

Linux boxes are more expandable than closed boxes with custom FW, and history will show that these 'server' boxes always in the end close off as manufactures bring out 'new' models

Indeed protek have brought out a range of hd boxes which open lots of hd chnls,and a dedicated website with support second to none..it went tits up once and they just started again elswhere...
you keep reccomending dm to people..but i bet you are not gonna help them set it up give them shares etc!! its just google is your friend..yeah right..thats helping people...
with the protek its pretty much plug and play and youve got tons of chnls with no hassle!!!
yet all you can come up with as an argument is..it wont last!!
climb out of your own behind ops!! and give some easy unbiased help/advice to newbies

.. your full of it fella.. the amount of people i have 1) helped set up a dreambox and 2) recommended a IP / Server box to is loads..

These IP boxes are brilliant, i'm not doubting that, I had one for a year, however the Linux based receivers are more adaptable and can open more channels.. surely you cant be doubting that

As for Google is your friend, yes it is here, however my inbox is daily full up of people asking how, where etc.. each one gets a full response..

The fact that you set up these boxes for a living is biasing your opinion mate ...

My answer has and always will be, if you are an IT biff then Proteks etc are excellent as they are plug and play, if you are IT savy and like to experiment then a Linux receiver is the way forward, hardly up my own arse..

Plus the people asking for help on here are mostly looking for Sky UK... Not really worth recommending a Protek for that is it..??

these IP boxes are great for novices and those who want an easy setup.. if you want more than that then Linux is the way to go.. that's not my opinion that is a fact
