I was just asked by a friend about how to set up a foreign satellite system for watching football of different companies than Sky. This is the tutorial I wrote for him. So I think Ill post it here for any persons thinking about going down that route.
The worst thing about having a satellite setup is the first year and the amount of money that it takes to get set up but let me tell you after you have switched you will never look back.
Firstly you need a biggish dish 80/90/100cm which will set you back around 50 eruo or so I bought mine of this guy on Ebay. You will also have to ask him what lnb you require which will set you back another 20 euro. It is optional but for the best viewing experience i would recommend a motor for your dish to enable you to switch between various satellites. The installation of the sets will vary from installer to installer I would say from around 40 to about 100 euro Or if you want a real challenge you could try the installation yourself just Google for a tutorial.

Now you have your dish you need a receiver. It is really up to yourself on how much you spend on a box for a cheapish HD with cardreader you are looking at around 100 euro but you can pay anything up to around 400+euro for a really top end satellite receiver

And now to talk about subscription cards there are many different cards out there . This is a very handy document for you to read
I currently have both a cyfra card which cost me ***8364;160 for 12 months and an aljazeera sports card which cost me 100 euro for 12 months.

The Cyfra card shows the PremierLeague it USUALLY (but not always shows the 12:45 Sat game a 3:00pm Sat and 5:30 game on Sat and usually shows 2 games on Sunday) The majority of matches are in HD but sometimes they are not when they clash with polish football. They have showed 13 of the 14 man united matches so far this season.. The commentary of these games are polish but if you have a second satellite dish (I use the old freesat one and you'll be able to use your sky one if you have one) and a second satellite box even like this crappy one below and a laptop. You can connect the laptop to the sat box and switch on bbc radio 5live or whatever station the commentary is on and delay the sound using freeware called radio delay you can then synchronise the sound to have the sound on the radio and pictures on the telly in sync.

The Aljazeera card only costs 100 euro and it has an awful lot of football on it ( SPL, La Liga, Ligue 1, Euro 2012 qualifiers, MLS, Championship, Russian League, Serie A, Carling Cup, FA Cup, Club World Championship, Argentian League, Brazilian League, Copa Del Rey, Copa Italia, and the Dutch League )on 8 sports channels and the vast majority of that is in English and on a champions league night you have gary Lineker and other English pundits on there.
There are various other cards for example Tring which costs about ?260 and shows almost every single Premiership game and mostly in English but not in HD. There are question marks on whether or not this will continue but at the moment it is a very good deal.

There also various packets from companies such as Sky italia and deutschland and Viasat which are very impressive but cost around 800 euro . Have a look at this site for info on cards http://69.46.27.82/~alsatoff/shop/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&c ategory_id=16&Itemid=1 or http://www.tvcorner.com/index.php/cP...6ab1962d0622e8 or http://www.techdigital.co.uk/categories/Viewing-Cards/
