wired sat card splitter (strange question)

My mate is willing to go server for a private cardshare. The only problem is that his misses isnt happy with a standard dm500 or dm800 as she wants dual tuner features + pvr leaving the VU+ duo as the best option but doesnt come in cheap by the time you add the price of hard drive.

Would it be possible in theory to make a wired card spitter where the original card is placed in a holder and then spit off into two dummy cards that are inserted in to the original set top box and a cheapy dm500 to act as a server and he can then retain the functions of a normal sky + box?

or am i just crazy?

I was thinking about modding a cheap funcard programmer as the card holder then knocking up 2 small pcb's to act as the cards to insert into original set top box and dm500

the diablo does a wirelss one, but it uses a cam, so a dm wouldnt be good for it, if there is a box out there that uses a cam and has lan cababilities, then yes, maybe
