OK - Eurovox is dead, Is Dreambox the answer??!!

My Eurovox Max V went t*t's up months ago (nag 3), since then I have stuck with the basic package from vermin.

A rep from Sly knocked the door in the week and offered me the usual introduction deal, M&S vouchers, sly +, HD etc.

From reading Eurovox threads, it is obvious that borrowed cable tv is no more.

Please can anyone offer advice? Is a Dreambox (or the likes) the answer to my problems or do I need to subscribe to a sly package for 12 mths.

I apologise if you have read this kind of thread before, but I have read info from Dreambox websites and am confused with the technical details.

Will it be as simple to install and set up as a Eurovox? Obviously I need a dish, but will I get similar results??

Any advice will be much appreciated.

    Cheers all...

Have a look at the guide I wrote about foreign satellite and if you want you can ignore the parts about buying the subscription cards and buy a dreambox instead of buying one of the receivers I recommended.

        Cheers Dave-H & SOB,

I have read the 'stickies' & your 'set up guide' as advised & found them very useful.

I understand the FTA & FTV principle, but surely you can get most of these channels on a standard freeview box (the one's worth watching anyway!).

Why are people paying big money for a Dreambox? Does the 'Dreamup' flashing work the same as flashing a Eurovox. Is this the secret......

I know it's very basic to you guys, but I'm still learning.

        Thanks again.

google cccam premium, and have a good read of how you can get what you want. its not hard to do once you get all the info, but you will get all this with the google search. all the answers can not be given on here as this talk is not allowed, so have a read and come back and ask once you know basics.

dreambox are good, can be tough to learn and judging by your questions, it may be hard for you....other models of Linex based stb also exist, (see sig) but Cccam is the answer to all your dreams

satellite is a completely different ball game compared to UK cable, and I'm a skeptic of how long cccam sharing is going to last in the near future...
