    SATELLITE ADVICE

    Good evening one and all,

I need some help. I live in Wigan and I am looking into installing a Satellite Dish and Receiver.

When it comes to satellite dishes, receivers etc I am a complete novice and need help. I rent the house the the dish would have to go onto the chimney stack as the Landlord will not allow dishes on the wall. What kind of dish should I choose and also can anyone suggest a receiver. I would want to receive as many English speaking channels as possible

    Hope you can help

    Paul

crooker. Sounds like your landlord is a little strict, so I suppose a motorised dish or multiple fixed dishes are out of the question. I think your going to need to get a package deal form sly mate.

    Good luck

What about siting it in the garden on a pole. All in all its like everything-what do you want to get and how much have you got to spend?

        Cheers Gents

Can you suggest a set up which wont break the bank but would allow me to receive a good selection of channels.

The dish will probably have to go on the chimney stack. What size of dish would you recommend. Also would a long run of cable effect reception

        Cheers

hi m8, if you are restricted to the chimney stack then a 60cm dish is the maximum allowed. depending on what/which channels you are wanting to recieve then id recommend a 55cm torroidal dish for 28.2e/19.2e and 13e or a raven zone2 dish and mono-block for 19.2e/13e. these satellite popsitions will give you plenty to watch with the correct reciever and broadband connection. if your looking for plug+play then the protek 9700/9750 or spiderbox 7000/9000 which are high definition stb,s. and are easy to use. if you are prepared to do alot of reading and to put the effort in then any linux reciever will be fine. eg.. vu+duo/solohd, tm500/600sd,dmm 500/600sd or the dmm800hd/tm800hd. unless your cable run is 40m+ then it shouldnt cause problems. regards mdt
