No Sattelite Signal - Error 29

I am suddenly getting this error on my sky Digibox (No Satellite Signal)

When I try and look at the signal strength, ther's nothing in there. Why would it suddenly loose it's signal?

Do I have to reaalign the Dish?

hi, it could be 1 of a few things m8. can you try another reciever? to rule out your s*y digibox. if your box is ok then it could be your cable,f-connection or your lnb if they are all ok then you may need to check your dish alignment. have you had very heavy winds were you are? is your dish/lnb/cable very old? as the lnb may have just given up the ghost! regards mdt

      Hi,

The reicever is ok as I took it to a mates place and it worked ok. The cable and F-Connector - Can't see any reason as it's been working ok till now, however, how would I test these?

How would I check the LNB?

What I did notice is that there are trees in the way of the diah, could these be the issue and if so would it be as easy as tilting the dish slightly upwards to avoid the trees?

I get that on an old digibox now and again and have found turning it off at the mains for a minute or two clears it.I"m not saying this is the case with yours but its worth a try.or give a forced download, turn off at mains and while holding the backup button in on the stb turn the mains back on keep button held in til the update screen shows.(it takes about 10 minutes)

sorry my last post is out of date already.but you cant tilt your dish to avoid obstacles either trim the tree or have the dish resited.

for most of us its easier to just replace the lnb if its faulty but visually checking the F-plugs may show up something.

            Either
            A) lnb is ~~~~ed, try your mates receiver to clarify or
            B) Dish is misaligned due to weather.
            C) Box is not picking up default TP.

              Hi,

Let's assume the dish is misalligned due to the weather as suggested. How would I go about alligning it again?

if when at your mates you got a good signal strength reading re-connect the stb to your dish go to the signal test menu and you will then have to adjust the dish to get ok in the lock and as high as possible reading in the quality bar.but as said it may not be that.snow and ice on the lnb can also cause problems as can the dish being covered.

                  Hi,

Ok will try that. At the moment I'm getting 0 signal strength.

If it's the LNB, how would I go about sourcing a replacement. What would be a good place to buy it.

I've read about signal finders etc on the web, would that help?

you can get replacement sky lnb at quite a few places,Satellite systems, satellite dishes, Satellite Superstore UK, satellite advice, training videos, Low prices. sell them with an adapter for the earlier dishes, signal finders can help but the cheap ones wont tell you what sat your on and will only help you peak the signal, use the sky box one if you can.If it is a faulty lnb and you dont move the dish when replacing it you might get away with not haveing to re-align.
