    Low SNR (19-24%)

    Hi Folks

I wonder if anyone can help me.

Having setup my dish acording to various guides etc I feel my motorised setup is "true" bracket plump and angles on motor and bracket correct etc.

The issues Im having is having pointed the dish south and moved to 0.8 west to fine tune to arc. Im getting low SNR issues. No matter how much I finely tune or move the dish the best I can get from the strongest transponder is 24%. Similarly no matter which bird I point to the same SNR range occurs flickering from 19-24%. I have checked various things so far; including re doing all the F-connectors carefully incase one is fowled. I have taken off the arm to check the LNB is a) not damaged or b) misfitted. Unpluggining all cables gives a 3% SNR so theres obviously a signal coming from somewhere on the dish. Again all these dont seem to be the cause as the same signal strength occurs. The only thing I can think it can be is the LNB and Im will be testing this with a sat meter this week to confirm or deny.

If anyone has any thoughts it would be of great help as I can think what else it can be at thios stage.

you cant just set the angles you have to hunt for your 1st sat.If you put your location on both the stb and motor bracket these will not need changing but after putting your longitude setting in the stb send the dish to 0.8W with usals.then you will have to hunt for a signal by moving the whole motor/dish assembly physically L/R and just the dish itself up/down til you get a max reading on the quality bar.use BBC world on either 11.325H 24500 or11.862H 28000.as you must have an active tp set in the box. you must get the elevation on the dish as accurately as possible as you cannot fine tune this adjustment.the E/W can be fine tuned by altering you longitude in the stb by 0.2 degrees at a time to obtain max signal.once set up on 0.8W if your pole is 100% plumb the other sats should be found automatically.
you dont say what box you have but I"ve sent a guide for std technomates.

      Hi mate
Thanks very much for the information, I have a sat meter coming this week also that should help me with alignment, maybe Im not being through enough in this case. I would ahve though I would get some fluctuation in signal even no matter how dramatically I move it. I may go through the setup again to check ive done everything correctly but for now Ive checked the basics.

Reciever is a TM500 Super latest UR image.
LNB is a Icecrypt single unversal 0.1db, dish is 80cm with IceCrypt DM-101 motor

If you use the sat finder menu with one of the tps I"ve sent that will help.all you are getting at the moment is "noise"you need to hit a sat that is using the tp you have set to get anything else.
I must stress that the transponder you use for setup must be active, there are a lot of dead transponders and even if you are spot on a satellite you"ll see nothing on the snr or agc bars.

there should not be any problem with it just download it and extract then open.I"ve just checked and it opens fine.use firefox as your browser and unzip with 7-zip.internet explorer can cause problems.

perhaps someone else can also check the file?
