    Leethsat DVB8800 & Bulsat - a bit of help?

    Evening all,

I've been an FTA viewer for a while, locked in at Turksat 2A/3A and only recently have decided to go into something else.

I've been reading and hearing about people opening up Bulsat on 39E and watching the premiership as well as the other channels available, and am interested in doing the same.

I've got a Leethsat DVB8800 currently for FTA on Turksat 2A/3A like I said, and have been told it's a clone of an Arion-Openbox-Ferguson, or something like that. Or that it can use the firmware for those or something along those lines.

It has an RS232 port on the back. I can provide firmware info from the receiver if it would help.

What's the best way to go about watching Bulsat with this receiver? What software/patches would I need? I have a wireless connection through out the house so that's not a problem. I also have a spare computer I can use if it needs to be hooked up the computer for whatever reason.

Another question, if not this receiver, what other standard receiver would I be able to do this with?

Thank you in advance for your help!

know nothing about your box but others may,a std technomate is one of the easiest boxes to patch but as its not known how long bulsat will last I would not recommend buying any box for that reason alone.at the moment with a motorised setup useing a std TM bulsat on 39E and arqiva on 5E are open with patch and softcam and helloHD is FTA on 9E(if the box is an HD one)
most will advise to go the linux route now for flexibility.

How can I load BISS keys onto this box? I don't have the option from the menu as far as I can tell.

Biss keys need to be added manually,as said previously dont know that box but if not patched and no key edit menu for biss you cant.

In order to input the BISS keys for channels, for example NTV Spor on Turksat, you need to "patch" a receiver by flashing it with a file, and then enter the BISS key?

Is there a receiver that does not need flashing or does every receiver require patching/flashing?

If all require patching, which are some of the biggest brands that have good support for this type of use?

yes you will need a patched receiver to to enter biss keys in but I would read up a lot more about it 1st as linux receivers seem to be taking over the sat scene now and I know nothing about these but others on this site are experts on them.technomates are the easiest to patch of the std boxes but you will not get NTV spor on 42E in the uk as its on the east beam of the sat.

at the moment 39E bulsat is a good package with about 60 channels that can be opened with a std technomate that is patched and has latest softcam installed and this will open quite a lot of channels on 19E and a couple of others here and there as well but I would not buy a box for this alone as you dont know how long it will last.but if you like playing about they can still give a bit of fun particularly if motorised. check out the dedicated technomate section on this site it will give you an idea of things.

Technomates are getting to end of line.
                Dreambox/spider/VU etc way forward.

Thank you for your help thus far.

I should have mentioned earlier, I am not in the UK, and I can pickup NTV Spor however it goes black (due to BISS) during matches and that is why I gave it as an example.

I've been looking into a line of receivers called Strong. I've heard good things (at least from the people I've spoken to) but am still undecided, and thus decided to ask here.

I was also told that the current Dreambox 500 models, which I am interested in, are mostly clones since the manufacturer stopped producing them. I'm not sure if this is true but would like to know if someone can verify?

Which brings me to my next question; if I do purchase a dreambox 500, and it is a clone, would I be able to patch it/flash it and enter BISS keys in it without worrying about it getting fried because it is a clone?

                  Thanks again.
