    Dish Position Odd

Getting a little confused here, I have had my dish setup for a few years now and it does track all the sats from 30west to 42east . Just out of interest I drove my dish to zero and put a marker in the ground that was just touching the lnb arm, I then tunes to 0.8west and expected the dish to move about 1degree west but it moved about 1degree to the east. At my position true south is about 2 degrees west of magnetic south?
    My L & L are correct

how did you drive the dish to zero did you use the box or the manual button on the motor?the motor scale will not be 100% accurate.once you tuned in to 0.8W using the box I take it you got a good signal if you then sent the dish to 0 it should have gone East a tad.

Depends on your L&L, particularly Longitude. The further west you are from 0 the more your dish will point east of south for 1west. My dish is 3 degs east for 1 west at 55.77n/4.06w.
Go to dishpointer.c*m, enter your postcode and select Thor 0.8w.

yeah I"m lucky I"m virtually on the meridian so dont have to make these mind bending calculations but hypersonic has made it clearer.

          Hi, Thanks for your replies
hypersonic, I have been to dispointer and these are the details for my LL for 1 west
          azim true 178.4
          azim mag 181
true is 2.6 weat of mag
If I set my motor to zero with my STB and if the dish is then pointing to true south which way will my dish move to pick up 1west. The zero pointer on the motor is pointing to zero. Thanks

Take 178.4 deg true as being 1.6 deg east of south. If you set your motor to zero azimuth manually, your motor should move 1.6 degs east to pick up 1 west.
