Which satellite HD receiver is the best buy in todays market?

hi everyone, im new to the satellite receivers and have been offered a choice of 3, Blade BM7000(?150), GGG HD (?150) and Vu+ duo (?350). im open to buying 1 outside these 3 but dont see much difference between them (n00b) so not sure which to go for. any suggestions on which 1 to get and why?

    thanks in advance

the VU+Duo is king with out doubt with 2 tuners.

If you go that route, Be prepared to learn how to flash it and configure any plugins you install with cfg files and ftping them between the box and your PC.

thanks for the replies. yeh i agree the vu+ duo is quite alot more, i was hoping to keep it within 150, i havent seen much talk of the blade 7000 or GGG HD any idea what they are like and how do they compare to the dm800pro? some talk of the blade and GGG as the best boxes around and great value for money.

i would say your dm 800 would be as good if not better than 2 of the boxes you mentioned (not the vu) why not learn with that first and see how it goes

the blade and ggg are ok boes depends what u want from them really, as regards support u wont get better than a dm800 as u can see everyywhere there is plenty of suport for a dm800 but none for a blade or ggg so if i was just starting i would always go with the best supported box

looks like the clone doesn't have the rs232 socket so it might be a problem if u need to flash with null modem cable

Is the DM800pro the same as the Dream Box 800 SE.

                        Im looking to upgrade too.

Also I see the VU Duo HD is down to ?222, but I don't really want something thats complicated to run...

The DM800pro is just a standard DM800 with a newer tuner and other bits and bobs

I can get the DM800 SE for ?123, is it easy to step up to this from the Skybox F5S?
Also can I transfer my gift from the F5S to the DM800SE if I get it....

it will be a clone then as they dont make them any more , especially not at that price

yes you can do part 2, but this forum cannot help you achieve this (rules)

its a steep learning curve to go to a linux E2 box from your cheapo easy peasy box however

the duo was down to ?199 recently
