    Dish alignment problem?!?!

Hi guys, I have a bit of a problem here. My brother has recently got a Dreambox 500 and for some reason some channels will just not show up.

They seem to be kids channels and music channels but I can't understand why they won't when the likes of documentary channels as well as the free channels.

He brought it over to mine to see if it was a problem with the box but it works no problem with my dish.

I was thinking maybe a problem with LNB so I told him to check other lines coming from his quad LNB but its the same but on his regular SlyHD box they work fine.

I was also thinking dish alignment but then why would some channels work and some not.

Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong that they won't display on the 500. I also leant him my box to see if it could be a box problem but exactly the same problem.

Any help is greatly appreciated but it has totally baffled me.

I'm heading round to his tomorrow to try and fix this as he doesn't know a whole lot about this kind of thing. I'm no expert but I know a lot more than him.

Just the wee cheapy things off ebay. I was thinking of bringing it round and setting the DM on a music channel and then hooking up my signal tester to the dish and thing slightly tipping the dish to see if it made any difference.

I suppose the best way to describe my situation is for the DM some transponders are working and others aren't but for the proper Sky box they are all working?!

        i had the same problem
firstly is your dish pointing at 19.2 or 28.2 it should be 28.2
also if theres any joins in the cable this can add to the missing channels i was missing tiny pop and a few more

ya can manually scan the channels using this site it gives the frequencies of the channels
        Channel Directory (T) - KingOfSat

just go into maual transponder scan

Leaving in a while, was chatting to someone last night and they say the dish needs to be twisted slightly to the right.

I'll bring my sat meter and see what I can do. Will update this afternoon.

Didn't update yesterday but we tried and finally got it working but there was a couple of channels not working so I climbed up again and ended up we got nothing. Then we got back to square one but couldn't get it going properly.

This sounds like a signal issue to me.

I had the exact same problems when I was using a sat dbox2. Some channels were extremely glitchy and some wouldn't clear at all. I checked lynsgat and confirmed they were all on the same 2/3 transponders.

After realigning my dish without success I borrowed a sky box and they were all fine so I knew it was a weak tuner. I 'upgraded' to an openbox s9 and haven't had any problems at all.

I wouldn't be surprised if you have a combination of a dish that needs fine tuning and a slightly weak tuner. Or perhaps some dodgy cables/connections.

Maybe it's worth realigning the dish again? I have a signal meter but the cheap ones are fiddly. I had better results having a mate sat in front of the TV talking to me on the mobile phone while I adjusted.
