a friend of mine asked me (I work in broadcast) whether I could stream one of his channels using Flash Media Live Encoder.
I told him I can downlink his signal from EB1 and capture it and stream it realtime using Flash Media Live Encoder.
The problem is that I'm unfamiliar with satellite receivers as I've only worked with IP broadcast and not satellite.
My main concern is that the receiver will just pack up or freeze without a warning. The channel I'm downlinking is FTA so I don't need any of the fancy works (CCAM, HD, PVR etc etc) but just a stable and good running receiver.
Quality wise I'm going to be streaming @ 800kbps so I don't need a HD receiver as long as analog video / audio can do the job.
I've also read something about PC cards but the problem seems that they don't actually decode anything but rather just stream the MPEG2 signal and Flash Media Live Encoder only likes RAW video so it won't recognise these cards.
So basically I'm wondering if there is a receiver capable of doing a good long job or if there's a PC Card which will also decode the signal (theoretically an IDR).
