Making the switch advice required please

    Hi,
i'm making the switch from cable to sat and after some advice,

My Step dad has the dreambox hd800 and i've watched it in action and it's lovely but the price scares me... i was wondering if there was other boxes that can perform the same as the dreambox but are slightly less in price and have hd capabilities & harddrive -internal (pref) or external
suppose that limit's the market but any advice you could share with me would be welcomed.

    Cheers

what u must remember is with the dm800 u have the support of a huge community if you get in problems a spiderbox is a bit cheaper depends on your budget, also depends if u need hd as a dm500 can be picked up very cheap nowadays

      Owenb,
mate, I did the same about 4 months ago, now I've got a great set up
I did my research on DM boxs as was use to the cable version.
I have a vu+duo which has been quoted by many as being as good if not better than the DM8000 (yes thousand)
its approx ?370 and very good and supports usb update
support is excellent from either pli or vu+-support
both sites have there own servers which alow image updates and also support pluggin down loads e.g cams

yes mate but there is a price difference of nearly 200 quid and vu duo is only good if u want dual tuners just depends on if u wanna keep 200 quid in your pocket or not buddy

I have both the Dm800 and the Vu+ Duo ,the Dm800 is a good box with good support as stated above , but i believe the Vu+ Duo is the best box out there, i have the VIX 1.3 image installed and i believe this is the most stable image i have tried on any box i have owned, i have never had a green screen, unlike my DM800, the beauty of having the twin tuner is you can record 1 station while viewing another , well worth the money in my opinion.

kiwi you can get a dm800hd for as little as ?135 (this is a clone ) you can get the skybox s9 hd (nothing to do with sky ) for under ?100 ,exactly what is your budget mate.
i love it when a dreambox comes together.

the latest clone dm800 are good boxes and have great support ,i dont think there is great a difference between a clone and original as people would think but thats just my opinion. if you have the cash in your budget go for the vu + duo its worth the money.
