    Is this what i need?

    Hi peeps

I want to start using satellite because i am sick of paying vermin!!

I have read up on this for weeks and still haven't got a clue .

A guy advertising in the local paper shop quoted me ?320 for a fixed dish and box with 3pm footy etc but i thought that was too much?

So if i get a DM500s(clone) and a 1.1m Hi-Gain Satellite Dish motorised (1.1m Hi-Gain Satellite Dish LNB 110cm Motor motorised on eBay (end time 04-Mar-11 14:04:14 GMT)).

Will this be a good start? i can get them for ?162 delivered. Which is half the price the guy quoted. Even if i pay someone to fit the dish it's only going to be about ?40.

Then it will be learning the rest as i go along.

I just want to get the right equipment!

    Any advice guys?

That looks ok and not a bad price, and Yes that is a good start for an initial set up going motorised.

It would be fun setting the dish up yourself as there is loads of guides around, but if you are not confident get some one in to do it as it can be a pain.

Once set up i am sure your installer will make sure it is hitting all free sats available, then you just need to add a bit of software to the box and away you go.

Plus if you get stuck there will be help here, but bear in mind there is not much open on sat and you will still have to pay a sub to a server but it is worth it.

ITgate TGM220 (swapable tuner), Dreambox 800 pro, Dreambox 500c x 2, DBox, Popbox media player.

after setting up the dish, the setup of the dreambox can be difficult but here are a few pointers of what you need.

      Flashing your dreambox.

you need to flash you box with a clone friendly image such as pli jade.

to do this you need a null modem cable to connect from serial port in your pc to your dreambox. (if your pc has no serial port then use a usb-serial port adaptor)

you flash the box using a program called dreamup which can be downloaded here http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...=1267&act=down
the image that you need to use can be downloaded here http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...d=751&act=down

a good thourough guide for flashing your box can be seen here http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...dreamup-42950/.

Next step is to turn on the box connected to ur dish and ur internet router and go through the installation process to scan the channels.

1.in the setting menu there will be an option to download the latest menu, do this

      2. in the settings go to software management / downloads and select the cccam file as well as the cccam.cfg file and restart cccam.

To put keys or code onto your box you need ftp software called flashfxp which can be dowloaded here http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...id=84&act=down

you will need your ip adress of your box to connect your box to this program (this can be found in communications or network settings on your box), the user name is 'root' and the password is 'dreambox'.

when flashfxp connects the will be a file list, click the file 'var', then 'etc' then right click on 'cccam.cfg' and its in this wordpad were you paste any code that you need.

to edit or import channel lists you will need a program called dreamboxedit which can be downloaded here http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...=1501&act=down

log in with the same ip/user/pass and ur box is not connected and you can either load info from your box to pc or pc to box. a recent channel list can be downloaded here http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...1-01.02.11.rar

so have all your essentials in order first:

        dreamup
        pli-jade image
        flashfxp
        dreamboxedit
        channel list

        1. flash box
        2. connect, setup and scan box for channels
        3. download latest cccam
        4. ftp and info that needs to be
        5. import channel list

        and your ready to go
