bit late to decide whether its a good choice or not as you've already bought it.However if you want mutiple sats etc without the grief of linux then yes it does the job, plus you can c/s as a client which is ok,it wil c/s as a server as well with a little work via newcs.generaly speaky its a reasonable box which has flaws but which box doesn't

the spiderboxs are vgvfm imo and they are clearing more and more packages all the time. i sold my 9000hd due to problems with disconnection issues using c**am. the fun will start when 100,000 recievers have been sold and the plug gets pulled on the gift servers. its a good box thats easy to set up but dont get any problems as the guys behind it refuse to beleive they exist. enjoy it while it lasts m8. regards mdt

9000 is better stb due to extra scart/cam slot/rf out. Packages are the same.

I must say i realy like the box, Some Awesome features on it and i'm enjoying the gift channels while they last, few problems with usals but not to worry as diseq 1.2 DOES exist in the box, Good quality box and good for anyone looking for a easy to use box That's linux based, although the dreambox 800 HD was a good box for me, I think I prefer the spiderbox...

Theres my thoughts, if anyone has one of these machines post your thoughts !

I have a dm800 thinking of getting rid off it for one of these. There's not many subs you can pick up for 150 notes so the gift with box is a bit of a bargain. Loads open with emu as well.

Spiderbox surprised me to be honest, it was considerably better than i expected.

If you like to tinker with settings and images though then forget it as it's very limited.

I had layed about with the 9000HD and got my mates a few and and was impressed with the picture quality of the box and ease of use.

Really simple to use and does what it was. Good starter box and for some one who just really wants plug and play.

I'm now starting to kick in with a few problems on the box to be honest, I'm picking up 19.2E, 16E and 13E on Disecq 1.2, But USALS I can't setup with it for some reason
This sucks at the moment cause I NEED 5E and 28E
                        Any help ?

                          see your other thread.
I"ve a 7000HD and its great get from 42E to 30W no probs BUT motors can stutter on usals although it still gets there in the end I just use it to locate the sat then switch it to diseqc 1.2.If you were tracking all the sats with your old box there is no reason you shouldnt with the spider.make sure you have the same long/lat in the spider that you had in your other box(which I assume was ok).

Ok this is what i have done and recommended to many others who know do this.
                            Set up on usals.
For example you have 30w-42e ok on usals
                            Send to 30w on usals.
Stores sat status-change to diseqc-store sat status-change to usals
Go to next sat maybe 15w is yours
                            Follow the above routine again
Next 12.5w maybe and so on till you get to 42e.
Once you finish on 42e leave on diseqc not usals.
You will find now all sats are stored nicely on diseqc and no longer have to put up with the motor stuttering on usals.

That's how I do it Manic, use USALS to get somewhere near, switch to disecq and fine tune until get highest signal/quality then save.
