    copying from sky plus planner

Hi there does anyone know if i would be able to copy from my skybox to a usb stick? as my contract with sky is over next month and i want to be able to keep what i have recorded but when you cancel they delete all content. sky says you can only copy onto a dvd/video by way of recording. But i have heard that if you pull down the flap where the card is inserted on some models of the first skyhd there is a usb port (which i have found on my model) and that its possible to copy using this. any help would be greatly appreciated. many thanks

Not sure if it was with sky or VM, but a box went out to customers that had an extra set of connectors on the rear which bypassed DMRC (or whatever copyright protection is installed).

The only way I found to copy recordings from the box is via scart to either a DVD recorder or Video.

Not sure if sky wipe the drive remotely or not. But you do lose the ability to view recordings once the account is closed. This is because the boxes record the raw data stream & play back goes through the card.

Think it's time to borrow someones DVD recorder.

        Copy Plus

You can remove the hard drive and use a program called Copy Plus

Copy+, the free Sky & XTV disk copier software

You cannot view everything yet, but I am keeping mine on my hard drive awaiting the day someone beets the encoding.
