Sky HD box

Hi, I have a sky+ box with full sky subscription. It has been playing up recently and I have tried the resets etc. My friend has given me his old SKy HD box. Have tried it but just get the error message no signal. IS it possible to use it in place of the sky+? I have tried putting our card in the HD box but still no signal.

Will they do that without my upping the subscription to HD?

Yes they will, but they will try sell you the HD package as well, however you don't have to get it.
