2nd hand sky box and extra multi-room sub

Hi I have Sky multi-room(1 hd box and 1 sd box) and was hoping to put another box in another bedroom.I phoned sky but they want to charge a fortune for a box and engineer install.
Is it possible to buy a 2nd hand box,hook it up to the dish yourself and then ask sky to connect you for ?10 a month?
I read somewhere that cards must be paired to the box if the above would be possible would sky just send you a card for your 2nd hand box or would you need to buy a box with a paired card?
Any info would be grand

just buy a second hand box off fleabay ring up sky tell em you want another multiroom and they will send out a card no sweat. tell em you have another dish up ready if they ask. I got 3 in my house.

Just a couple more questions :-If I hook the box up to the dish myself will they charge me any connection fee or a fee for the card?
Sly wanted almost ?200 just to add an extra hd box in my bedroom and connect it aswell as the multi-room monthly sub.
I already pay for the HD channels on the main box and a tenner a month for a standard multi-room box.
Do you know if I'll get the HD channels for a tenner a month if I get a 2nd hand HD box or is the ?10 monthly multi-room sub only for standard multi-room boxes?

its a sky contractor installing it for him
and he said hes activating his boxes with someone else phone line first in a house hes also doing an install in today
