ive gone with the dreambox, and i'll tell you for why,
1: its the cheapest option, no point a beginner spending ?100s and then finding out its too hard
2: you get more bang for your buck with a dreambox
3: its nowhere near as hard as some make out, but once you have one, you can act cleverer than you really are and noobs to sat look upon you as some sort of guru..and THATS good
4: You have to do something REALLY stupid to ~~~~ them up, theres nowt much goes wronf with a dreambox that a null modem and a reflash cant fix.
5: Think I am right in saying that its the box with the widest user base, so LOTS of support
        so thats that...
        do i win ?10?
        Fave replies from various threads

1: What the fff is all that about??? All that crap below your reply I mean, get a life mate
2: no info on google abt the pace sv5 rang asda they have no idea what i was talking about,
3: Your total contribution to this forum, bordering on trolling, seems to have been a collection of snipes, one liners & asterisked expletives

Id say the Spider 7000/9000 or blade media. Both pretty much plug and play.

I voted 'other' because I started out with a simple and cheap box through Lidl. Got the whole set up box/dish/cable/sat finder and if it were to prove hard or boring then I would not be down by much. The Silver Crest box was great for the newbie before I moved on to Humax HD which was the way I wanted to go at that time.

im not on sat yet,but i started of with a dbox for 2 years then jumped in the deep end and got meself a dm600
i wanted to learn on how to set it up,flash it,compile images and so on,but for a newbie who dont want anything fancy i think plug and play types will be better for them or unless they wanna learn

A spiderbox is cheap and easy to use and loads of channels.

dreambox 500s is a good starter box and with a little bit of reading you wont be disappointed. I think the thing is not be scared to ask for help if you are having problems getting the box set up,but dont forget you will have to do a bit of reading first.
