Satellite Television-Where do I start?

I've got Sky at present however would like to consider getting own set up. Not sure where to start. What do I need?

Bankies, I'm basing this reply on the fact that in Ireland the sky dishes are all 80cm oval type so if you want to cancel with sky then you will be left with the free to air channels which may or may not suit you, also the sky box is good for no other satellite as it is just programmed for 28e.However if you were to buy a box of your choice you could use the dish with its lnb to scan other sats and get a general idea of what is up there before you make any big decisions such as going motorized with a new set up.
