          fcuk that

I paid an expert to come over and throw my motorized system on the wall.. T&K Bracket, pole and 1m dish.. 1.5hrs all set up, tacking all arcs perfectly.. no way would i have been able to do that.. i don't even have a drill, let alone ladders or a head for heights..

It's ok saying 'DIY it' but DIY isn't for everyone..

pay it,keep him to ?180 and you have a bargain supplied and fitted, just say pay cash. cant go wrong at that price. you could do it yourself, but would probably take you hours. snap his hand off and take price. aint worth hassle doing it yourself when somebody will do it for that, BUT are they capable!!!

i do it yourself as you can fix it when it goes wrong!! id never done any d.i.y but learnt myself in the back garden on a pole and have now installed around 80 motorised/fixed systems for friends/work collegue,s and local people although the downside is i never get any peace. regards mdt

Opsmonkey is correct diy is not for everyone. That said, not all "experts" are very good either. The one I used was absolutely shocking. Decided to give it a try myself and very pleased with the results.

Personally I would say try first and if for whatever reason it just doesnt happen then you could get someone in.

Mind you that price you have been quotes seems very fair to me.

What suprises me, you only mentioned the price. You should give the specs, as well as the price. It could work out expensive, if it is a dust bin lid with a old satellite box.

Why joking? they get all the stuff for around ?70 - ?80 and then ?70 - ?80 to fit it. Thats a fair and honest price for a job that should take an hour or less to do.

thats well cheap. i live in the northwest, got a local lad to supply, fit a 1m dish with good motor, cable, mount, 1.1lnb. ?350 a spot on job, even called in to re-align the dish when we had them high winds.

Assuming straight forward job, no obstacles to encounter to fix dish to wall etc.
So you say decent motor/dish/lnb/cable etc is ?70-80, well trade maybe and why would he pass those prices on?
Original price quoted is more than fair.
