    PC as a Sat Receiver

Now we all know that pc sat cards have been around for donkeys years, but some peeps may not be using them to their full potential.
I recently bought a 2nd hand HTPC, the fujitsu scaleo.

i paid ?70, a cheap sat tv card for ?23, i had a wireless k/b and mouse already but i bought a remote control for ?9.99
    total spend with p and p ?118
Now i had access to all the sly channels, but obviously, they were encrypted, i had wanted an upgrade to my dm500 andthis seemed ideal, add another tuner for ?23 and i had a vu duo beater..IF I could get the thing to open all chans.
Well good news friends, after many days and nights of messing around and searching, I have succeeded, and to that end have written a guide for any others who may have an old pc lying around and may want to take this route.

This looks really interesting and something i'd like to do. Just a few questions.

What type of Sat card do you recommend?

Do this clear all UK HD Sly channels?

What is the EPG guide like (how userfriendly is it).

and finally is this relatively straightforward to get going or do you need to be a real tech head?

        Cheers.

if you can get it to link properly with mce then the epg is the best there is outside of sky
can you slot in pci cards and read? then its a doddle

well in one way its better than 500s purely because this setup is capable of hd.
of course once setup a dreambox is easier to use...

OK just got the card today and currently doing a channel scan. I haven't installed Hadu yet as I have an N line and not a C line. I am using the DVBVIEWER software. Any ideas as to what plugin needs to be used for an N line on this?

                          Cheers

Ok finally got this thing going and what can i say..."who hoo"!

Used acamd plugin via DVBdream and after realising that there was a formatting error in the n-line suddenly bam....all channels open for business. Loving it
