you have to put on the latest firmware to do the clone test. before I updated I got a CCID of 0200, after updating the firmware i get 0200:9D1A... the 9D1A is in the list of genuine boxes. The instructions do say if you find you have a clone to re-write the working firmware you have on your box and it will continue to work. But if you have a clone, and leave the new firmware on the box, after 10 power cycles it will brick the box.
ccid 0107 is this a clone

Does it not have to be 0102:9D1A ??you have to put on the latest firmware to do the clone test. before I updated I got a CCID of 0200, after updating the firmware i get 0200:9D1A... the 9D1A is in the list of genuine boxes. Hi all
I have checked my S9, after press 77777 it came out 0107 which is pretty much confirmed my unit is clone. So, my question is :
i) can i still upgrade the May 11 firmware ? The guide said i can still upgrade but it will kill the unit after 10 power cycle BUT i do heard a lot of posts mentioned that is not true, even they power cycled it many times, nothing happen..so is it a myth or fact here ?
ii) I read there are users who upgraded the May 11 firmware and their CCID change from 0107 to one of those "valid" CCID , is this true or false here ?
iii) If i upgrade this May 11 firmware, how do i backup my existing working firmware, so in case anything happens, i can revert to the old firmware easily ?
iv) if i upgrade this May 11 firmware, will i lost my existing favorite channels that i have selected from different satellites and i have to re-do all the channels selection again ?
thank you in advance
cheers..seanComment

The first thing you would have to ask yourself is do you really need to update the firmware? If not, best leave it well alone as you've confirmed your clone status.Hi all

You will lose any channel settings on a firmware update, which you can dump to USB via the Tools menu. You can dump an abs image file to USB, which includes your original firmware and channels. But if you planned to use that as an insurance policy if your clone gets bombed by the latest firmware, you might be out of luck if your box is bricked!Comment

actually i like the EPG new format in the may 11 firmware very much so i plan to update it. but i also afraid it will kill my S9 box so i am asking is it safe to upgrade to may11 firmware in view i am having a clone unit here....thxComment

I think it is already confirmed as being a clone, but the issue was if the latest firmware is safe to install, with the threat of a firmware bomb after several power up cycles. I certainly wouldn't risk it myself at this stage.Comment

No, it is not confirmed as a clone, the 0107 that you see does not mean it is a clone.
If you open the box and take a look at the insides, if you have a Green PCB board (in the bottom right as you look from the back of the receiver) it may be a clone, but if you have a brown board there it is a genuine box.
I had one that had the 0107 number but it was not a clone.Comment

yes, you are right, i already know mine one is clone, i just want to know can i still go ahead to upgrade to may11 firmware as i read some folks have upgraded their clone unit without any issue even they power cycled it more than 10 times. Furthermore their CCID changed to a legitimate ID after the upgrade which is very weird.Comment

On the questions of clones I just tried to update firmware on mate's box who only got it this week. The firmware appeared to be a March firmware and when I tried to upload either the May or April one i get wrong file format. Does this mean hardware issue or clone issue?? No such problems on my box which came from same place. Should add that his has "foreign plug"
Any answers?Comment
