OPENBOX S10 - "MODE IS NOT SUPPORTED"

    Hi Everyone

I Am new to Digital-kaos and a newbie in Cardsharing.

I just bought a OB S10, tried to scanned some few channels. I pressed "V-format" button on the remote control by mistake. Since the box doesn' t boot. Each time I switch on the box, a message "Mode is not Support" comes up on the blank screen.

Please need help to revive my box

    Thank you in advance

I read somewhere before that 'mode not supported' on the S9 means that the HDMI connection on the box is broken, you have 2 choices really as I see it, try a different HDMI lead or return to your supplier for repairs if still under warranty.

Not necessarily Dave, if he just keeps pressing V FORMAT, it will cycle through the various display options and one of them may display properly.

You can also try connecting through the phono/scart connection.

SG8 you are totally right but what I meant was, what is the point of having a HD box if you can only view it through the scart connection, OP did you try anything else? How did you get on?

There is a first time for everything!!

It may be more that his TV does not match the output he had selected on the HDMI connection. I did not mean that he should watch using the scart connection, more just to check that it does display properly by one way or the other.

Thank you so much. I tried few HDMI lead but the message remains the same. Probably The HDMI connection is broken. I do have warranty as I only pay the box via Paypal on June 9th, 2011 from UK

Thank you. I tried all the possible options:
1- Using different HDMI cables, phono cables to connect the box with no success.

2- I used the same HDMI cables to connect my laptop and then my Home Cinema sets to the TV and they work fine.

3- I kept pressing V-FORMAT, but it did not even display the the different resolutions to select from

Any other suggestions: maybe reboot the box via null cable?

              Thank you in advance

The OP S10 can also use phono-Scart lead. I tried it but mine does not work

                Thank you

Sounds like your stuck in PAL mode regardless of how many times you press the VFormat button nothing will happen the same thing happened to me it is either the video output YUV/RGB settings or the video resolution setting are not compatible with your tv.

Try this and see if it helps.

Reset the open box by turning it off by using the power switch at the back wait 5 secs then turn it back on and wait another 20 seconds to allow the box to boot up.

On the remote press these buttons in the order shown below

                  Menu - Right - Right - Ok

You should now be in the Tv System Menu now press the buttons in order shown below

                  Down - Ok - Down - Down - Left .....

Now wait 2 or 3 seconds if you can now see the screen again Exit the menu.

Do this only if the first attempt did not work.

Reset the open box wait 20 secs turn back on and press the following buttons like before.

                  Menu - Right - Right - Ok - Down - Ok.

You should now be in the video resolution settings

Press Left as many times needed to get the correct resolution setting for your tv making sure you wait 2 or 3 seconds between each press of the button.

                  Hope this helped
