    Openbox poor performer

I have s10 original and was very underwhelmed with openbox. The epg is rubbish worst ever.It shows scrambled on unscrambled channels for a while, there is no 7 day guide just now and next, reboots at will it keeps freezing on premium
channels and some sport channels..I eventually put it upstairs and bought a dreambox dm800 much much better reciever.Crossepg or cool guide is good. The moral of the story is you get what you pay for and this is very much a budget reciever with budget qualities

It's never been advertised as a world beater, plenty of people are very happy with it's easy set up and great picture.
You get what you pay for.

All down to being on a good server Im afraid !
Openbox is a great box providing you get a good server, over subscribed servers drag this box down :-)

Sad when the only defence for a poor box is the price. All the rebooting ,epg is acceptable because it was cheap i think not.Had the openbox been more expensive we would all have been far more critical. And also dell xps i have same server on my dreambox no problems at all.I purchased an original not a cheap clone wish i knew as much about recievers then as i do today would not have purchased.By the way this box was advertised as having a 7 day epg.If you could get a wood over this sad box what would you get with a vu+..

It's not a poor box at all, every receiver has issues, Sky's EPG from 28.2e is not delivered in the same way as other providers, hence the problems, and this is not only an Openbox issue, many other receivers have the same problem.
A number of problems can be put down to the user, who either sets the configuration incorrectly or has little idea of what their doing, this is why forums like this are here, to assist others.
The Openbox delivers faultless audio and video once it's been setup correctly, I had a Dreambox 800, but that was when they first became available, but quickly sold it on, due to it's overheating issues.
If I had the oppertunity of exchanging the Openbox for a DM 800, I would keep the Openbox, the rebooting issues are easily sorted by removing the offending channels, and this is mostly limited to 28.2e, the other satellites are okay, and that suits me.
Of course that's just my opinion, and regardless to say I am perfectly satisfied with my Openbox S9.

My openbox is set up perfectly,i have 3 boxes 2 dreamboxes and openbox s10 all using the same premium server so i can compare the openbox with the others using the same server.Without bragging i probably know more about the dreambox than the majority of users including assembling linux code.I will eventually sell the openbox as a bad purchase i am not prepared to be a beta tester on new firmware that seems to be released every week proving there is a problem with the box, as for removing channels that cause rebooting they should have sorted the box out before releasing to the public not expecting owners to be without channels..Lets be clear customers only buy this box because it is within there budget not because it was a great box a mistake i also made.
