Western Digital hard drive does not work also would be very cautious as am sure many other external drives will not work.
Do not know what works for certain at moment, just don't think all drives will work as they definitely don't.

some boxes have a dislike to a far too big hard drive or a dislike for a brand, its a pity they dont offer advice of what to use with each box or maybe an e sata drive in a caddy?

The general view is that max size for a HDD for use with an Openbox is a 1.5 TB. Anyting at 2TB or 3TB appear not to work.

There is a preference for powered versions as it appear that USB 2.0 powered have speed issues.

I have a 1TB powered Seagate with USB 2.0 which is working without any difficulty.
