Please help me to get my sly card recognised

I have tried inputting the boxid generated from the 17character code to give a 8 hexadecimal code. But the box will only let me view FTA channels. It just says scrambled when I try to put a channel with a dollar sign at the start.

The card is definitely working as I have it in a sly hd box with all the movie and sports channels.

Does anyone have an idea what has gone wrong here?

have you inserted the card the right way round?. for the s10 the chip needs to be upwards, and downwards for the s9.

if you have the card inserted properly nds or videoguard should show up in the ca slot settings page.

you should still be able to view non premium channels without the boxkey such as sky1 so if these are not working then the problem may not be the boxkey.

forgot to add that i have both the s9 and s10 and i have had problems with both trying decrypt sky uk. i had to downgrade firmware to older versions to get the channels to work.

The card is inserted with the chip up and videoguard 2 allows the boxid to be entered

I cannot get any channels with a $ in the channel name, so not even ITV2 HD.

I will try with an older firmware, I saw on another thread you mentioned October 2010 as the last working version for you..so I will try that in the morning

        Thank you for the advice

the october software wont work in the s10. i have tried. is it an s10 that you own then seeing as you inserted the card face up?
the sign that the card is inserted properly is the ca system shows nds or videoguard instead of unknown. this is different to the section in the configuration where you enter the videoguard 2 boxkey.
i'll attach the files that work for me tomorrow.

let me know how you get on with networking the 2 machines for sharing as i have had problems with glitching on premium channels.

Tried the firmware you gave and it works! Brilliant, I noticed the CA slot settings said NDS rather than Videoguard...maybe this is part of the problem.

Going to network the boxes now, will let you know.

                  Thanks again

Well I am struggling to set up the networking. I set up one box as the server following this guide: *****

                    The on the other box added the N Line as mentioned in the link above, eg. N: seerver_ip_or_dns Port user password 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14 256

However the box always lists this as being offline.

Both boxes are networked internally, so for example box 1 (server) is 192.168.1.201 and box 2 is 192.168.1.202

I kept the default port of 12000 and opened up the port on my router (though not sure that is really needed for internal networking?)

Is this similar to how you networked your boxes?

make sure the 'server setting' is set to on.
i wasn't able to add the 256 into the des key as the configuration page for it does not allow it. how did you add it in? i dont think its needed anyhow if you are only using one server.

i have opened the port up on the computer and tried forwarding to the server and client in turn to see if the glitching would stop - it did not help and yes i can have the channels working without the port opened on the internal network.

to make sure the server and client were communicating i replicated the addresses in the other box insead of using dhcp.

                      i.e.

                      in the client network settings:
                      i.p. address - i.p of client
                      subnet - 255.255.255.000
gateway - ip of server (not router)
dns primary - ip of server
dns secondary - ip of server

                      in the server network settings:
                      i.p. address - i.p of server
                      subnet - 255.255.255.000
gateway - ip of client (not router)
dns primary - ip of client
dns secondary - ip of client

make sure the server box is rebooted to apply the settings. then reboot the client to allow it to search for the server.

you can use mgcamd or cccam as clients. both work for me.

in cccam you must press the ok button after highlighting the n line so that it show a tick next to it otherwise when it reboots it will not search for the server.

                      i wish you luck!

I imported the n line from a CCcam.cfg file that I created and put on a USB stick this is how I entered 256 on the end, but perhaps this is the problem.

From what you said I presume you entered this manually, I was not aware a n line could be entered that way as I thought ccam would use a c line by default.

Regardless I will give this a try in the morning and cross my fingers!!

yep i entered the values into the s10 in the configuration page for mgcamd and cccam. i'm going to try your method to check if this improves the glitching.

for ccccam select network - cccam - cccam.cfg - scroll to newcamd for the protocol, and the rest is straightforward.

for mgcamd goto network - mgcamd - newcamdlist.

you can check that the boxes are connected to the network by pinging them from the pc. run cmd and type 'ping 192.168.1.201. or 202.

BTW the software released on 8/8/11 does not work!

Have to say a massive thanks for you helping me out on this. I finally managed to connect after entering the details manually.

I only tried quickly, but noticed audio synch and some channels would not get a signal strength..but those that did worked ok.

I should be getting a VU+ duo soon so will let you know if using that as a server improves this.

With regards the signal strength I hope it is only because of all the rain at the moment...else that will be pretty annoying. For example Sky Premier HD has 5% SNR, but Sky Showcase has about 75% and works fine.

                              good show mate!

i think the snr shows lower if its failing to decrypt aswell....

when you get a chance try and test both boxes working together on decrypted channels especially the premium ones. are you noticing any freezing every 5-10 seconds?
