    Original or Clone

    I have had an S10 for a few weeks and have found it to be ok with new firmware. Got another from different place and am sure its a clone. It showed clone screen and had to have the erom reflashed.

    The difference which stands out is the power supply. Original is a fixed cable to box and the clone has a figure of eight plug to box. Both have two pin euro plugs.

    Anyone else that can confirm this?

      If you have Openbox/Skybox S9(S10) HD PVR with Ali3602 BGA. To identify if it is original or not as follows:If you have a firmware later than 07/04/2011 go to step 3, otherwise
      1. Backup up your current firmware
      press menu---tool---dump by usb
      Save your dump file
      2. Upgrad to new software Download her
      3.press menu---tool---information(press ok)---press 777777 key (888888 if S10)

      If chip ID is one of these numbers

      00D0
      00EA
      085B
      0D0C
      98A1
      98F2
      9CF4
      9D1A
      1015

      Congratulations! your HD Receiver is original!!

      Also rumor is the clones have green card readers

          The firmware that came with the box is 085B but when a upgraded to a later firmware it changes to FFFF and the box shows Clone and hangs on ON

              You have a clone then... Interesting note you made about difference in power lead connection.. My original S9 has a fixed cable and came supplied with UK plug attached.. I suppose its cost cutting for the clone manufacturers, they can just mass churn out boxes for all markets, then just pop in the appropriate power lead for whereever they are shipping..

                      Charlie, you should read all the post. I have recovered the box without any problems. Being from the old Dbox brigade has its uses.
