    Network issue with S10

    Hi everyone,

I just got my S10 yesterday and have already stumbled on a problem. When i connect S10 to my (dhcp) router with DHCP ON in the Network Setup, it never gets an address(does not show up in routers DHCP-table), and even when i set a static IP I'm not able to ping the box.

Has anyone else experienced similar problems?

I've tried updating the firmware, even got it bricked while trying different versions, but recovered it by flashing it with null-modem cable.

Thanks for such a quick reply!

      The router IP: 192.168.0.1

      And S10 IP: 192.168.0.108
      i just changed the -001.108 to 000.108.

Subnet mask is same as on router 255.255.255.0
and gateway is the routers IP.

The most important thing is to make sure the ip address look exactly the same barring the last digits.
        I would go router 192.168.0.1
        Openbox 192.168.0.100
Untick dhcp and reboot and see what happens.

          Hi again,

I just found out that the problem was in the 30m ethernet cable going from router to S10. There are some minor kinks in the cable but it works fine when I connect it to the laptop. I guess the S10 ethernet adapter isn't quite as powerful..

          Thanks again for your efforts!

Its more likely 1 of the 8 wires in your kink'd cable has a break in it... I guess your Laptop has a Gigabit port.. With one broken wire it'll still work in a Lan port wired for Gigabit connection, but it will just fall back to a 10/100 connection speed using only 4 wires instead of all 8... If a port is wired only for 10/100 (like on the S9) then your broken cable would fail if that port is wired to use one of 4 wires that is broken in the cable..

              Still having troubles..

              Hi again,

I'm still having trouble setting up my clone S10, so I'm posting here in hope for some expert advice and guidance.

I'm trying to connect to a friends newc@md server but without success, the N-line never changes from offline to login or online, even tho I'm using "same" n-line on my htpc, where it logins just fine.

              The working newc@md in htpc:
              newc@md:friend1.mine.nu:10000:1/0b00/ffff:userass:0102030405060708091011121314

              The non-working newc@md in S10:
              N: friend1.mine.nu 10000 user pass 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14

we have even tried with mgc@md and ip instead of dns, no change.

I have tried to add lines both manually by remote and with usb in CCcam.cfg, and they have been activated and box has been reset between trials. Am I still missing something?

And for some reason my clone S10 is still unable to get IP via DHCP, I have tried 3 different routers and no matter what which one i use with DHCP enabled, it doesn't work.
When IP is set by hand i can ping it but it never turns up in routers client list (not dhcp-table). I tested the S10 NIC by running a vPlug server on my computer and it logged in right away with ccc@m. But I think it could still have some gateway-issues (the network port obviously aint working as it should - dhcp), or is there a way of fully testing the nic functionality?

              -Jonas

Check your Ethernet port on s10, does it light up at all, had one unit with bad Ethernet port, supplier sent me replacement as they are plug+play

                  Hi southpaw,

the yellow lights up and green blinks occasionally (not as active as it should) when ethernet is connected, so it isn't dead, but it could still be bad..too bad i didn't order more of these so i could have tried swapping them.

Is the dhcp function embedded in the ethernet module/nic, or is it on the S10 mb?
