That's good new ron, mine still the same though.

I have carried out factory reset and started from the beginning. I am attempting to use diseq 1.2, as that's what my motor works with being old! But I am not getting anywhere. If I use my other box to guide my dish to say astra 2 and then connect up the openbox and set the motor to off I get a good signal and can tune in all the available channels. however if I then select diseq 1.2 the signal disappears? It's as though the box is somehow drifting off. I then have to reconnect my other box and bring the motor back in line to astra 2. This happens no matter what satellite I choose. I attempted also to add hispasat to my setup and had to get my other box to set the posn for it and then once again connected up the openbox and was able to scan for available channels. Once again I set the motor to diseq and the signal disappeared? Now I don't know if the dish is moving or not as I'm the only one in the house but if it is it is moving very slightly as it doesn't take too much to get it back on track using my other box?

Have you tried going to reference in the motor setting screen? thats what i had to do .But that was on Usals .Also sometimes i had to send motor two or three times before it would actually get there.Hope you get it sorted mate.Have you tried the latest firmware i read it sorts out some Diseq problems but forgot where and what i read about it.

        Help with motorised dish

        Sinbrad m8
On the Openbox, go to the menu > installation > installation antenna & satellite quick setting, select USALS and delete all satellite positions. Exit back and then reselect diseqc 1.2 & exit back.
Goto menu > installation > antenna setup > motor setting > position setting > then by using the left/right buttons, select the satellite, then the transponder frequency of the channel you wish to view.
Select the position number you wish to use, then scroll down to the ?save? box and use the left/right buttons to move the dish east/west until you get your signal. OK to save the position.
Exit to check it is the correct satellite (info) If OK then repeat above procedure and fine tune the dish (L/R) for the strongest signal on that satellite and re-save that position.
Once you have got the first satellite on target you can use the same procedure to save the positions of all the other satellites. Make sure the position numbers are different for each satellite and always check you have the right satellite, as the same transponder frequency can occur on several different satellites ~ best of luck and thank me if I?ve helped.

By the way there is a good diseqc motor setup tut in the DK downloads (Satellite section)

I will follow what you say Hypersonic but my dish is already set up to receive all the satellites using my other box. On the other box I was able to use usals to initially pin point the satellite and then change over to diseq and save it that way, thus avoiding any fine tuning of the dish etc. But trying to do it with the openbox as soon as I swith to diseq it loses signal as though it is moving to another satelllite but the satellite selected is the correct one?

I have attempted to start from the beginning but what I cannot understand is when I go into setting up the satellites and it is set to usals, all the positions are correct and I really don't need to do anything else. My motor doesn't work too well with usals and the motor movement is jerking but with diseq it is smooth. Anyway, my understanding was that in order to use usals you had to put in your local lat/long but I didn't put that in and it remains blank but somehow usals is still able to work? Now if it was set to diseq and it worked I wouldn't be puzzled but since it's not then I'm at a blank?

when you swith to diseq try still storing the position then come out of the screen and then back in.I noticed mine was saying no signal but if i exited antenae screen and went back in it would get signal or if i just waited a while it would get the signal again. It sounds like a software issue on the openbox.

              Diseqc motor problems.

              sinbrad.
When I first bought my openbox last year I had my TM600 operating my dish and I just set the openbox to fixed antenna using the loopthrough on the TM. I selected the satellite I wanted on the TM, switched it to standby, then started the openbox and selected the same satellite to watch HD programs. In the early days of the openbox, there were firmware and rebooting problems, so this seemed to be the best option. I have now reversed this and use the openbox to move the dish and the TM as a reserve.

Cheers guys, will give it another go but if usals is working or so I think it's usals then I'll just go with that. I've downloaded and installed so many different firmwares to get the box doing what I want and not going anywhere fast. Can you recommend a good reliable firmware and also a good channel list for at least Astra 2 ie Sly uk. I've been looking around and there is so many different firmwares just need one that does what it says on the tin.

I'm having similar problems. I decided to go for an HD-capable sat box as an upgrade to my Technomate 5200.
It really annoys me that we have to jump through hoops to find ways around crap firmware.
I have now tried several different ways to set up sats and channels. All seem to have problems. I just tried a multi-sat blind search - I was given an out of memory warning after the first five....

                  Any suggestions?

The box has a 5000 channel limit, unfortunately you can't really expect to scan loads of satellites in all in one go... You'll have to scan a couple, then delete all the cruddy channels and others you'll never watch, then go scan another couple..
