    Hi all,

Long time since I was on a forum......
After some help if possible please, just purchased a S9 went through checks ie Chip ID and getting 10AA....
Now to me that says clone...been in touch with supplier and they are adamant original unit.
So over to the jury.........if you would.

You wont know for sure untill you upgrade the firmware.. Factory fresh clones can show an "original box" chip ID, untill its upgraded...

Well another issue has shown it's head..........

Have tried up upload Firmware via USB and will not have it, was able to dump original file to start, have tried different versions and different USB pens all formatted FAT32, it will NOT even load original file that was dumped....
Each time showing message 'mismatch file'....................
I am wondering if Firmware cannot be upgraded now via USB?

        Regards

        Jup

there are so many varients of f/w knocking about , some disguised as others , some with wrong date of release , some for skybox rebranded as openbox ,
its a basic little unit anyhow, regardless of what f.w is on it and upgrading aint gonna turn it into a dreambox ,
If it works and you aint got issues (lip-sync, reboots etc) then dont bother "upgrading" , just watch some tv and enjoy your budget receiver ,
if you like to tinker an experiment , go buy a dm800pro (can be imported for ?100 now)

I have an Openbox s9 with genuine code showing,
i flashed it with the latest firmware, i used the skybox from their website, my problem is when i turn the openbox off, it is a bugger to get booted up again! takes about 50 attempts!

so now it stays switched on permanently, the latest firmware features are too good to downgrade (better epg, full screen 3 column channel browsing, faster channel change and boot up etc etc)

please let me know if you know a fix for the startup issue

                      No fix...just patience.

after switching off via remote, wait 30 secs before attempting to switch on via remote.
