    openbox clone firmware

    Hi,
I've just bought a new openbox s9 and I would like to upgrade to the latest firmware. At the moment the info screen gives "VERSION : HDS2-10-11-08:1043CMT". I'm guessing this is not the latest version.

I've read that there is a bomb in official versions of the latest firmware that will kill clones. So how do I find out if my box is a clone?

If it is a clone is their a reasonably up-to-date firmware version that is clone safe?

    Many thanks

Thanks for the info but I can't seem to get it to work.
On the information screen I get 4 items MAC, MACHINE, NC and version. Then when I try pressing 8 four times nothing happens.

Found another thread that seems to have the info: http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...-clone-205696/

I pressed 7 six times and got a hidden screen with more info, including "CCID 0201" on it. Since 0201 is not on the list I guess it's a clone.

                may

may 22 firmware shows the rev also.So should any after that.
It may take 77777 or 88888
11111 is the factory test screen.
ccid is the old s9 descriptor.
With old s9 firmware 4-4-2011 my info screen shows a totally different chip id on my receiver. My receiver is an original, not clone.
I thought clones will show a number initially, then FFFF after a reboot.
