Openbox S11, quick few questions updating firmware help/info!..

have one of these working perfect with a channel list etc just using it for cccam nothing else, just abit worried when it comes to updating firmware checked and its not a clone has this firware c2hss2-11-10-10:0579cmt, don't want to do anything where it leaves me lost connecting a null modem cable like it did with with my dreambox! so if I ever want to update firmware in the future do I just need to factory default it first and thats it? does that remove the previous firmware? then upgrade by USB and thats it? Don't want to be updating it all the time as there is no problems at present so maybe best attitude to take is if its not broke don't fix it? and just update channel lists now and then, advice will be appreciated guys!

really you've answered your own question mate.
if its doing what you want it to do then i would leave as it is.there may come a time when you have to update the firmware but as yet i get the feeling updating these boxes causes more questions than answers.

Not sure factory resert is necessary.
All i did was put latest firmware on usb stick and go through the updating process from the menu which is really self explanetry but to be fair i've only had 3 of these boxes to mess with and then i moved them on to friends and i only updated 2 and left the third one with original firmware on it so others with more experience of these boxes might know more.

Just to add seeing that I can't help myself tried to update verified s11 firmware! got as far as 39% then hung then completes a minute or two later saying file mismatch, done by usb and the micro sd card formatted, no problems updating channel lists, tried 2 versions and just the same, file has been extrated from rar etc, not sure what I need to do??

yes on my usb just incase, anyway it never did anything because of file mismatch so my original firmware is still on and its working, just wondering why it won't update?

I've had that problem on my s10,I either upgrade via lan connection instead or the old style rs232 loader.

been told by my supplier my version is the latest official one for s11 box from november and will downgrade and lose avator with older versions of s9 or s10, also firmware out every 4 months ish

guess i'll leave it for now

                        details

that firmware is a unique rev and it would be interesting to see if it works on older receivers.
