    Newbie frequency, sat scan, questions

Hi, I've just picked up a s10 and am having a few problems, and was wondering if anyone could help me out

    1. I am missing some channels - i am unable to pick up e4 & e4+1, i've set the frequency to universal but it still does not pick it up.

    2. Why does it pick up so many duplicates channels, for example the first channels it pick up in the list are 7 channel 4 channels among many other duplicates

3.My sky card is unable to view sky sports or sky movies even though i have a subscription to them. it picks the channel up but does not allow me to view it. I can view things like espn, sky sports news, movies 24 but not the main subscription channels. i.e sky sports 1,2,3. Sky movies 1&2

    4. Why of the multiple channels picked up, can i only view certain versions of them? For example there are about 7 BBC 1's yet i can only view 3 of them?

    5. Why is it that when i select a satellite ,like for example, Atlantic bird i still pick up bbc 1, 2 etc basically the full sky epg? should i not be picking up channels only available on that sat?

    6. I've tried the epg download lists located on here and a lot of the channel on there do not work, for example, even though i can get bbc 1, 2 ,3 etc on a standard scan on those list when upgraded by usb they do not work?

I've also tried a standard sky box and everything works fine on that

    Thanks in advance

Check transpoders on kingsofsat.net and check they are on your box, manually imput them if they aint there, orrr download an up to date channel list off here and put it on your box. you will then have stuff set out in favourites list and wont need worry about duplicate channels..

    2. Why does it pick up so many duplicates channels, for example the first channels it pick up in the list are 7 channel 4 channels among many other duplicates

just find one that works ok and delete rest

3.My sky card is unable to view sky sports or sky movies even though i have a subscription to them. it picks the channel up but does not allow me to view it. I can view things like espn, sky sports news, movies 24 but not the main subscription channels. i.e sky sports 1,2,3. Sky movies 1&2

You need to enter the box and card id in the openbox, change box id to hex, if you search on this forum you will find out how its done.

    4. Why of the multiple channels picked up, can i only view certain versions of them? For example there are about 7 BBC 1's yet i can only view 3 of them?

You only need your reginal beeb1 and itv1 sack rest off, like i say tho; if you get a channel list off here they will be sorted for you.

    5. Why is it that when i select a satellite ,like for example, Atlantic bird i still pick up bbc 1, 2 etc basically the full sky epg? should i not be picking up channels only available on that sat?

is dish set up right? i take it it's motorised, are you using usals? Is the dish moving between the sats and ya sure you aint just scanning 28.2 again.

    6. I've tried the epg download lists located on here and a lot of the channel on there do not work, for example, even though i can get bbc 1, 2 ,3 etc on a standard scan on those list when upgraded by usb they do not work?

They work fine for everyone else, are you doing everything right.. . If your new to this, then read read and read some more, there are mauals and tutorials on the openbox forum,

I've also tried a standard sky box and everything works fine on that
If it isn't broke, don't try fixin it..!!!

      Thanks for the reply.

      1.
Ok, i've done that but it still does not retrieve e4 or e4+1, however I've looked at the transponder list and any that are vertical do not have a good signal under the universal frequency, however when I flick different frequencies some of the signals go up to 80%.

I' ve downloaded a channel list which has e4 and changed the frequency to 116900 and there is a very strong signal (79%) but no picture, however no when I change to bbc 1,I get a no signal sign its only when I change back to one of the universal frequencies that I can then view bbc 1 again?

      2
Ok, i just wanted to know why there were so many? I thought only one of each channel is broadcast, and I am just referring to standard bbc, not the region ones. Though its like that for loads channels. I guess they are broadcast on more then one frequency?

      3.
thanks, not had a proper look into it, but why is it only stopping me from viewing sly sports and movies when on a standard box I would still need the card to view sly 1 or dave, for example?

Its just one put up by sky. No, its definitely not 28.2 again.

e4 & e4+1 are on transponder number 10729/v/22000 just check thats what is says on your channel by pressing info twice.. transonders can change over time and you have to keep manually adding them.

yes they do have loads of channels the same. nowt to worry about .

again read up on how to pair box an card.. not to sure why some clear and some dont, i just no you have to pair them up.. someone else may answer this for you.

if you have a sky dish fitted by sky it's more than likely not a motorised dish so will not move to different sats to scan them. so it will still scan but only 28.2 as dish dont move..
If it isn't broke, don't try fixin it..!!!

I've done that and it only picks up channel 4 x6 ,more4+1 and film4, +1 and thats when i change the frequency to 11690. On the standard sky boxes they pick it up fine.

So would that be the reason why i receive channels like bbc 1 when i scan a sat like Atlantic bird?

            untick all sats except 28.2
            delete all channels
set lnb to highest universal setting
now do a single sat blind scan on 28.2e
then find a new!! channel list on here and dowload it, unzip it, stick it on usb and put it into your box

              Tried it but no good

Have looked at the transponders and most of the ones that are vertical do not have a good signal under the universal frequency??

So will buy and try a in-line amplifier and see if that does the trick!

Yes try the inline sloping amp. it ranges between 12db & 18db or something around that area .. 4 quid on ebay. Dont make the mistake of buying a 20db as it could be overkill and kill the signal all together..
If that doesnt do the trick it could be that your dish is slightly out of line and needs moving a budgies dick.. (millimetres).

Ok , no luck didn't do anything

If the dish is out of line I shouldn't be able to pick up the channels on my standard sky box?

Could the tuner in the openbox be faulty?

reading about regarding s10's s11's not getting hd some say a new lnb has solved the problem some are saying the signal amp has done the job, I think the lnb's were around 7 quid if you want to try that.. otherwise maybe see if your seller will swap ya box
