I am quite surprised that an in line amp worked. In all my years as a Sat enthusiast their attempted usage has done quite the opposite.

I have fixed so many peoples issues with missing or weak transponders simply by adjusting the Skew on their LNB's.

Many do not appreciate that the simple turning of an LNB clockwise or anticlockwise can work wonders for signal quality nor how important it is.

It may mean going up the ladder a few times but it saves a lot of headaches later on.

If it works ok for sky box the openbox should be no different as skew would of been set already.
Known issue on quad lnb with openbox.

Depends who set the Skew on for which bird Astra or Eurobird. There is enough possitional difference between the two to cause issues if the OB is using the wrong Sat. Quickest way to check is to scan both Astra and Eurobird and see which has the best signal qualities. It's how I fixed mine and I sent the inline amp back same day for a refund as it did nothing for me but make things even worse.

True there is a bit of difference in skew, but 99% of people using a sky dish will be on astra obviously.

'3dB forward path attenuator' is what you need, open box pushes to much power to the lnb so the polarization doesnt switch correctly on cheap lnb's like skys, or buy a inverto or quality lnb and make sure the skew is correct as someone else has mentioned

Hmmm, I started getting this issue today. On some stations I'd have no signal and on others I'd have signal. Change of antenna settings and id get the previous no signal channels back, but lose ones that I had signal with previously.

Tried a 6db forward attenuator as I had one laying about, but made no difference at all.

Then randomly, it stopped doing it and I no longer had no signal anymore.

Now it seems a bit intermittent.

I have a sky + box with lnb connected to lnb1 on sky, lnb2 on sky is a loop from openbox (actually, skybox) S12. Sky+ box was off at the time, with no recordings taking place.

Would one of those eBay jobbies fix me up?

Iv got same problem I have 2 openboxs and one of them shows no signal on certain channels iv tried swapping them around but this box is still doing it the other box is fine both upstairs and down. I did notice it would work when I had the upstairs box turned on like it was giving it extra power so I bought an in line amp but still no joy and now it doesn't work with the other box turned on. I think the box is a gonna.
