    firmware differences

I'm new to sat tv and the Openbox but I have an S9 and I have been playing around with the many different firmware versions as I learn to use it. One thing I have noticed is that a couple of older firmwares have a menu entry for a boxkey but none of the more recent ones do. Can anyone explain anything about this to me? I'm not trying to hack Sky or anything like that, just learning as much as I can about how all this works.

I think the box key was to pair a s;y card up to the box, you had to get the original box number that the card was registard to then change it to hex and place the hex number into the openbox, then the card was paired
If it isn't broke, don't try fixin it..!!!

Thanks for your reply. So why did the Openbox firmware stop including this feature? Is it no longer relevant?
