    mac address

    Hi all
I've got a couple of s11's clones (not what I wanted) and would like to know, how if possible to change the mac address

If you are saying no mac address can be changed well they can be. dreambox has a script called patchme. And but for an unknown username I can not even try telnet to start with

you're right I read that somewhere. It would be nice to have a patch to alter the mac address.

            eeprom

I never searched for an eeprom,I assumed with a 4meg flash it wasn't needed.
Old s10 had a separate ethernet board, maybe that had one?
The LAN9220 can optionally load its MAC address from an external serial EEPROM. If a properly configured EEPROM is detected by the LAN9220 at power-up, hard reset or soft reset, the ADDRH and ADDRL registers will be loaded with the contents of the EEPROM. If a properly configured EEPROM is not detected, it is the responsibility of the host LAN Driver to set the IEEE addresses.

The LAN9220 EEPROM controller also allows the host system to read, write and erase the contents of the Serial EEPROM. The EEPROM controller supports most ***8220;93C46***8221; type EEPROMs configured for 128 x 8-bit operation
If the s10 had an eeprom with the mac it could probably be changed with a simple programmer.

yes thats being done right now. the supplier that supplied these boxes suggested that on my next purchase go for s10's which would then have unique mac address.
So from what you're saying the network card (which I informed the supplier was faulty) is the problem which is tied to the mac address.
I will be passing on the quote above to supplier to try to rectify this issue.

sorry for my ignorance but, what happens if you have two or more boxes with the same MAC?

                thanks.

openbox firmware is encrypted/compressed,so I don't know what you are viewing. The mac address would never be in firmware,or everyone would have the same.
