    newbie looking for advice

    Hi all

This is my first post and just wanted to clear up a few things before i tried an update

I am a complete newbie and have only just got an S10 box and wanted to update the firmware. ive checked the chip id and it is 1015 so think this means its an original

So just wanted to ask as i have searched for it but either cant find it or just dont understand what im supposed to be looking for.

I am searching for the most upto date firmware?? thought this was on the home page of these forums but have now read there was a new release feb 2012??

can this be done with a usb stick on an s10?

Some S10 seem to be rs232 only on some factory shipped stb's

so i have now found the box does have a usb host port so can flash using a stick,

Just wanted to ask to make sure i understand this correctly can i backup my existing CCam.cfg file by dumping on to usb save it to my laptop then update the fw and add the new channel listing with the F1 included and then upload the old CCam.cfg and all should be well??

Sorry if it seems stupid just cant get my head around it even though everyone keeps saying how simple it is!!

for all those new to this that have had the same issue dont forget to update the channel list or .dbs file last. Using menu tools update misc files

All sorted but now i need to find a .dbs file with the asian channels list

so all channels now showing as scrambled so i checked the cccam that i had backed up and it now reads "ko! " does this mean the cccam.cfg is not connected correctly??

did you place a tick on the line then exit and reboot.. also just rename the dbs file to abs and vice versa

so i have popped a tick next to the line to activate it exit reboot but still showing scrambled on all but free to air channels

The box was purchased from a dealer so came with a complete working channel list and dumped old cccam before update then just reloaded after update

Must be something im missing?? are these other files inportant cccam.prio softcam.key smartcard.conf and constant.cw??

from looking at the file sizes on the laptop they contain no info??

is there anyway to ping the server to see if there is a connection or is that not poss??

silly question but if the server is running older fw will that cause problems with the connection??

Youll need to set youre DHCP to auto.

Its in the menu, wee world icon,

cccam.prio softcam.key smartcard.conf and constant.cw arent going to stop it working, try as above says with the dhcp, check your cccam and see if it say online, offline or login.

firstly thanks for the help and info so far but now i have a problem i have not read about before, ive now spent a good while trying to sort it out reading posts and googling issue but nothing as of yet.

After completing the update reinstalling cccam.cfg which i had backed up before hand and then installing new channel list the box seems to revert the DHCP to on everytime the box is switched on?? i then have to manually turn it off and hey presto working again.

But as you can imagine this is quickly becoming annoying has anyone every heard of this problem and is there anyway to fix it without reverting to the original fw...if this is possible??

yep, apply button is clicked everytime follwing a message saying applying settings or something of the sorts then once the box has been switched off or in standby goes straight back to original settings??

                              Any ideas??
