S12 Choppy responsiveness

I've recently bought an openbox s12, I have two issues with it;

1) I dont know how to set up the satellite list or lnb, it simply wont find any sky channels on Astra 2 28.2E
2) the whole responsiveness of the unit is weak, unless I point the remote directly at it, is this an issue with the white new remote?
