    Installing dish and S11

    Hi guys,

I'm new to c/s although I used to have a special cable box before N3 was rolled out.

I've bought an Openbox and sky dish. I've stimuck the sky dish facing the same direction as the neighbours.

Using a satellite finder (cheap one) I got the best signal I could.

When I went indoors, there was a frozen picture, so I guess I had the signal at some point? I went back outside and up the ladders. Same again, the tv was showing a frozen picture.

Once again I went outside. This time I've come in and there is a black screen on bbc1. On sky one (not set up cline yet) it says no signal, but on bbc1 it doesn't.

I've read that the dish may not be good enough for an Openbox that needs a better signal.

The SI is 85% and the SQ jumps around in between 63% and 72%.

Any ideas as to where I'm going wrong?

Put the box on BBC 1
    Menu
    Installation
    Antenna Setup

Dont know where in the country you are but the dish needs to be near vertical and Horizontal with the lnb slightly skewed to about twenty five to of a clock if you look at it from the front.

With someone watching the screen and you at the dish slowely move sideways until the Intensity is near 90 and the quality over 70.

Just done one this morning and it took less than two minutes. If your a long way off two cordless or mobile phones will help.

Just seen your close to me (Bolton) so the dish needs to be both vertical and horizontal. Just sideway movement should find the sat..

Hi DW, cheers for the reply.

Yeah the LNB is slightly skewed. I thought it was bent at first! :-)

The spirit level on the LNB shows the bubble in between the two marker lines, although its not dead centre, it's closer to one than the other, could this be the problem?

You will only be a fraction out. Signal quality steady in the early 70's will get you a good picture. If you are at 85% for Si may need tilting slightly to get it closer to 90% which is a very good strength.
