Creating your own channel lists from bouquets?

    Hi,

First off awesome forum here. Ive been reading through all the openbox posts for the last couple hours. I thought Id give the openbox a try as I am quite the expert now with the dreambox and thought Id give myself a little challenge by trying out something new.

So far, Openbox seems pretty straight forward in terms of flashing the box and adding c lines, n lines etc.

However, I am still in the blue when it comes to creating channel lists from dreambox bouquets. I read the post here on how to do this but got stuck when it came to pasting the channels or importing them.

Would someone be kind enough to create a video tutorial on how they are turning dreambox bouquets into Openbox compatible channels lists. Ideally Id like to create a channel list for 28.2e and 13e and take the update bouquets from cardsharing settings forum here.

    Thanks.

Hi there mate personally if you look at my receiver list there either Enigma or Enigma2 so personally cant help you out on this way as the Openbox receivers are receivers I have never been interested in as I do not believe they have as much to offer.

If you look in the Openbox section mate though I am sure that I have seen channel lists there before created by users. It has been awhile though but I do remember once there was a regular updated list at one point, not sure if that still happens but if you can find such thread then the author of the thread may be able to advice you better

Yes, the reason I choose the Openbox was really just to have a laugh, I miss the good old days when things were just much more challenging and things often just did not work but when you did get it to work it was very rewarding. I felt as if this Openbox might just provide that challenge to some extent because the DM is so stable right now in terms of the software and the vast information available on the net...if you get what I mean. I guess I am strange in this sense.

Ideally, the only thing I am stuck with knowing how to do is create proper channel lists on the OpenBox. Ideally, as I said previously Id like to take enigma2 settings and just convert them into a compatible .dbs channel list file which I can simply upload onto the box. Right now the method of opening an .abs (which is a full image flash file) then pasting and importing favs and saving the .abs seems like this is the worst way to do it. There is a warning on the forum which says "It has been brought to out attention that flashing dump files on the openbox overloads/overwrites info and damages it!

As dump files have firmware and channel lists combined, please in future flash the firmware first then load a channel list as no one wants there box to be fried!"

Now given my box probably will have a flash file with a channel list following the method of creating channel lists using the .abs image files and saving these flash files with setedit100 would make me assume that everyone following this method runs the risk of bricking their box since you are being forced to create an entire image file in the end which you must reflash onto your box. Am I wrong?

Which is why there must be a simpler method of just creating a .dbs file instead of having to create an entire flash file just to update the channel list. Right?

There's a couple of threads on here with the file for working directly with .dbs file rather than having to do a complete re-flash just to update channel lists. Can't link atm but a quick search for something like "pvr800editor_dbs" will show it up.

        Edit,
        found it:
