    .abs

For skybox F3 updates like, channel lists, wifi and new firmware that you guys generously put on for us numpties, they all seem to be grouped in one file with the file extension .abs, I can't get something to open the .abs, like if I was up to date with firmware but wanted the channel list out of the update how would I do that? if someone could help...thanks

seems nobody has the migs to separate the channel list from the full firmware.
the alieditor will open the .abs and then you can save as .udf
the channel editor via rs232 should load just the channel list to receiver.

Got Alieditor eventually, opened the program then file menu and hit open, opened a small file browser, went to where my .abs file was but didn't open it, looked in file type box and it only open *.bin *.df2 and *.ddf files, is there a certain way to open .abs flies with this program, thanks.

        alieditor v3.03

alieditor opens .abs files, you must have an antique version.
        alieditor v3.03 with script.ini for s10,f3,s16 receivers.
Rename the script.s16 to script.ini if you have the s16
The default script.ini should work for s10 and f3

After hunting around I came across this PVR800-Editor_HD.zip in which has an Alieditor which does open .abs files, it opens the channels file in the .abs file for editing, if this any use to you here is a link to it,

Sorry Slugworth I didn't see your post till after my last post it would have saved me a lot of time, thanks for that and yes the other one dated 2007, I actually had to download a .rar file size 98.5mb to get that as it was stuck in the middle of a load of other programs now I can get rid of them, you say in your first post to this thread to open the .abs and save to .udf is this to enable the file to be loaded via the rs232 ? the box I use is the F3, thanks again

the alieditor itself can load to receiver after saving any edits you make via rs232.There was a version of alieditor that could open .dbs files,if the f3 lets you save the channel list to usb in that format like old receivers.

I opened firmware and exported as .udf but the file seemed small to me.Since there is no rs232 loader that can load individual chunks saving as a .udf file would be a waste of time.
Easiest would be to load with the alieditor itself, pc to stb choice.

Sorry but how do I know if version 3.03 will work with my receiver?

Do you know of a place to find various script.ini files for each receiver model?

                    Thanks in advance...

                      try it and see
script.ini is generated by a template file that is sometimes included with the editor package.

open the full .abs in alieditor and edit.
save as default database.Save again as user database.Load edited .abs to receiver and do a factory reset. All your favorites will have retained their names.

just back up your channel list. upgrade firmware then delete all channels and restore just channel list. should be fine mate
