openbox but got a ALI 3602

Hi All,

my mate saw my openbox and wanted one, told him to get one off ebay, but it's turned up and it's a ALI 3602 box, he only payed 40 notes for it, i've not seen it myself yet but he says the menu looks really old, so it must have one of the first firmwares, I've had a search but can't find much info. on them, and not sure what would be the latest firmware to load up without bricking the box...

Can anyone point me in the right direction, as i've said i've done a search but very little info on the ALI 3602 box available...

sysinfo screen usually gives details on what firmware is loaded.
Scour the earth for that info
all S series openbox except for the s16 have the ali 3602

like I said you have to see what's in it now.

definitely backup the current firmware 100% before you even think of loading different firmware.
I would just leave the current firmware and play with setting it up.
As we all know by now,newer isn't always better.

Current firmware has already been backed up, would appreciate anyone who has this box to advise what firmware is safe to load up.... The current firmware looks like its retro, the graphics look like something off an Atari from the 70's...

unless it's real old s9 firmware,the graphics haven't changed any.
s9 firmware has the vertical menus on the left side of the screen,s10 has the menus across the top.
That is the only difference graphics wise.

about 20 different models use that,you have to narrow it down a bit.
brand/model flash size etc.
most if not all have clone detection.

Been reading most of the post here but getting nowhere. Following the guides, I can upgrade the S/W thru USB but cannot find the "tools" option from the menu to feed in the clines. I am trying to open the netconfig but asking for password but '0000' doesn't work. I think my box installer have locked the config. Pls help me.

I did check youtube but they are in foreign language, none in English. My machine is asking C:/hsdata.cfg. No idea where to get that.

Here is a hsdata.cfg file for a Orton 403p. I think your box is the same.
