    Skybox F3 Wifi Issue

    Hi

I am having issues trying to setup wifi on a skybox f3 as the wifi manager seems disabled.

I received the box from a seller with my channels already "enabled". Reading through the forums I need to do a firmware update, however will this lose all the pre loaded channels I receive if I install this?

Seller has reccommended power plugs but wifi seems more prudent

    Please can someone help?

I have a Skybox F3 also and have recently spent a lot of time playing with it both via USB and other ways so happy to help you out to see if it solves your issue.

Firstly, I find updating by USB a bit of a pain in the rear, as you have to keep taking it in and out of the STB and Laptop - but you no longer need to do this by USB.

Yes - You will loose the channels if you install/update your firmware. I did this today and the only thing that will remain is the cline.

Not a biggie though, as you can easily put back your channels via a channel list and an appropriate LAN TOOL or via USB. Personally I prefer LAN TOOL as it takes less time and more efficient.

    Steps below (if need be):

STEP 1: Google "SKYBOX F3 LAN TOOL" and it will take you to a link of the Manufacturer to download the Software to allow you to communicate with your STB (Set Top Box) without the hassle of USB.

STEP 2: Whilst your there also download the latest firmware (030712) so you can do everything together.

CAUTION: I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY IF YOUR BOX IS A CLONE. SO PLEASE CHECK THIS FIRST WITH YOUR SELLER.

I have an original box so could download and update the firmware direct from manufacturer.

STEP 3: Run the SKYBOX F3 LAN TOOL. In the first box you will need to enter the IP Address of your Skybox (Menu > Network Tools> Network Communication) or a similar menu like that.

STEP 4. Note your ip address and enter it into the LAN TOOL. Use a password of 0000 (if you have not changed it on the box).

STEP 5. Update the firmware image.dbs

STEP 6. Add an appropriate channel list TP_PROG.DBS. I use AJ's Channel List but you have a number of choices on D.K

The above will take care of the firmware and the channel list issue. You can rescan your STB after this to be sure everything is picked up and channels are complete etc.

    WIFI.

I am currently testing the wifi, as there is a timeout issue and this is to do with mainly router settings, as the STB will allow either, WPA or WPA 2 encryption i believe but not WPA-WPA2 (mixed), so i had an issue connecting via wifi today.

I am going to take a look at this tomorrow and see if i can resolve.

If i have got any of the above wrong, someone please feel free to correct.

    Cheers,
    Scoob.

Hi the password is not recognised as 0000 ? Am i doing something incorrect have also tried 3313 (the original pass for the menus?)

Also, what is the easiest way to transfer to transfer the cline from the skybox (it came pre installed) on to a new device?
