Why do you think you have a clone? More importantly, why do you want to change the firmware anyway?

          They all come from China..

No you dont need to upgrade, it should do all it needs to do straight out of the box... Upgrading is only necessary if an update contains a significant operation improvement or feature addition, which they never do usually.. If your box works ok and does what its meant to do then its best to leave it as is, because there's always a risk of bricking when changing the system firmware, is it worth the risk?

There are Skybox F3 clones in the market! In my country some dealers are selling the fakes with firmware that they themselves have to update it otherwise the box will failed to operate permanently if updated with the update firmware from the Manufacturer! Almost all Sat receivers come from China that includes the OEM ones! So be xtra careful, the price factor will play a part! Link to check whether your box is OEM or not....SkyBox | SkyBox

Hello mate the link you posted isn't relevant to skybox f3 the chip mentioned in the link is ALI 3602 the chip in the f3 is ALI3601 this listhas been updated once since january ,last april and no update since there are no f3 clones at the price it isn't viable what you say about guys selling f3's that can only be updated by them, they're probably locking the menu so you can't update it yourself and bleeding more money from you.If you really worry about clones buy direct from supplier google will help you good luck mate

If you look on Alibaba or AliExpress you will found hundreds of companies making and selling clones of every Openbox, Dreambox, and SkyBox model under the sun, from painfully badly put together tat to stuff that looks (and probably is) professionally done.

There is no lower limit for fakes; I know of one company that started out making fakes of bottom end (sub ?20) Seinhauser headphones (that were so good it now has a contract to make genuine ones!!)

I spent much of last year in China, and you can find fake copies of everything, from rice to luxury coaches, a few weeks ago I saw a report on fake fire extinguishers!!!! (filled with flour!!!)

I'm sure I bought some fakes from Aliexpress. As soo nas I try and put Scoobysnacks firmware on any of them they go into a bootloop.

One decoder I can live with but the whole batch of 20.... The supplier sent me a link to flash via RS232 but the decoders won't read that file. So have tried several others from the forums and they load up beautifully but straight away again straight into Bootloop.

Luckily I never clicked delivered and am now have a dispute running on Aliexpress. I normally buy from Hispeed and have no problems but thought i'd save a few quid by going to another supplier.... Big mistake it's cost me a fortune in lost customer loyalty.
