Skybox F3 No Signal - Signal Quality Won't Change Even Swinging Dish Opposite Way

    Hi everyone.

I finally registered after trolling the site for quite some time

I finally decided to purchase a Skybox F3 and new satellite dish to move away from Vermin but I'm having a right old time trying to get a signal.

The box came pre installed with latest firmware and was told to just plug it in and go. Installed the dish, matching it's allignment with both my neighbours, but I can't get a signal no matter what I do.

Even swinging the dish fully left/right/up/down, the Skybox still reads Signal Intensity 45% - Signal Quality 10%. No channels.

I'm near Manchester and the box came with the 28.2E Sly UK, which is correct from my understanding. After reading a few other threads regarding this, it seems some people just moved their dish more westerly, others could only get one LNB to work so unplugged the other cables. I have a Sky quad LNB that came with the dish but only one cable plugged in and moving the dish isn't working as explained.

The half english instructions that came with the box suggests to go in to settings and change the LNB to a quad type but I can't find that anywhere.

Completely stuck. Does anyone know what I'm missing here, apart from tv channels

    EDIT:

Well I seem to have got a 75% signal finally, but it's not shown when you view the signal strength from the menu/setup area.

What I did was switch to a channel then pressed Info button 3 times. This then shows you the signal strength of that particular channel. I used this to get the channel to 75% strength and now I'm picking up channels.

I'm still just as confused but at least I found a signal.

It's a pity all the channels are scrambled or have no signal but that's a job for tomorrow.

    Hi mate,

did you manage to sort out your signalling issues?

I'm having sort of the same issue where my signal quality won't go beyond 75%.

    Any advice would help.

signal quality of 75% is perfectly normal, a lot of people have less than that with no issues.

I have a intensity of 90% and quality 74% and it works perfectly fine. I would suggest aligning your dish accurately with a meter and then if that dont help then change the lnb for a new one.

Can you elaborate on the dish alignment please? What type of meter should I use and where can I get it from? What type of lnb do you best recommend and where from?

P.S. My sky dish and single cable from dish to reciever are 7+ years old.

          Thanks in advance.

Meters are easily got, b&Q ,ebay, maplins etc will all sell them for around ?10.

I bought a new dish, quad lnb and cable from ebay for ?25, no idea what the make is but if i remember it was the sky recommended one whatever that may be.
