Wifi bridge?

Can anyone recommend a wifi bridge to use on my Openbox S11?

The router is upstairs (I have lodgers so my PS3 is hardwired to the router in my room) and I dont want to run lots of Ethernet cable downstairs to connect to the S11.

Why not try some home plugs ?

homeplugs / powerlines are a better bet.

vonets is the cheapest option (i think) for wireless ethernet...but its weak...i mean you have to be close to the router, go away much from it and it very quickly drops signal.
i had a vonets which i changed for a netgear one, which picked up a much stronger signal in our bedroom.
but even with that i ended up getting a homeplug / powerline set.

I looked at homeplugs, but I was told that they had to be on the same ring. My router is upstairs, Openbox downstairs so they are on different rings.

Vonets wouldn't be strong enough...

Homeplugs don't have to be on the same ring, the rings do have to be on the same consumer unit though (some properties have more than one)

the best option for you is netgear bridge that is really easy to setup using the wps (wifi protected setup) button or manual registration using the cd installation the model number is WNCE2001 Wireless Bridge. cheers

So I take it the wireless dongle that comes with the SKYBOX F3 is totally useless?

if the router is far away you can use the bridge but the skybos is close you can use the dongle. remember not all the devices work the same way as a computer-ps3-iptv (smart tv) or bd player so you can see what is the signal strenght if you have 10 mbps dwn speed and the unit has 3-4 bars use the math to check if the signal meets the unit requirements

apologizes i was doing some test on zif drives; homeplugs cost 28-75 and netgear WNCE2001 almost the same cost or more depends on the seller at amazon but you can check other websites like ebay; the differences between both are the signal of powerline ethernet adapters (homeplugs) run thru the powerline and if you have it connected to power surge protector or power strip it wont work; it has to be connected straight to the wall outlet and the wireless bridge connects to the main router wirelessly and your device will be connected to the ethernet port of the wireless bridge. the bandwidth is better on wireless bridge but if you have download speed of 10 mbps the homeplug will do the job pretty easy but thats up to you Musharaf
