    F3 box question

    Hi all

I have a question to ask about the slybox F3
I have a box & its working great at my house
decided to take it to my brothers house to watch the soccer to night
Connected the box up at my bro's and could not get any channels all scrambled check the box & it says server login...

Went back to mine & connected the box backup & all working fine

My question is do the boxs work off your I.P address

When i bought the box it came with a 12 month gift
when i got it connected all the leads & it came on strightaway without any probs...

Any helpi would be greatfull thx P&D

I doubt it... How did you connect it up at your mates, wifi or wired?

The box works off its own IP given by the router if DHCP is enabled.

If set to static you would have hadto input an IP yourself.

If its working at yours, your router will have assigned it an IP. At your mates his router will assign an IP.

When its all connected reboot his router. When the internet light is steady reboot the box and leave on a sub channel for it to log on.

if your box has an i.p. of , say, 192.168.2.13 and your router is 192.168.2.1 then it will work....but if your friends router is 192.168.1.1 then it wont....so, like previous post, make sure that dhcp is on, that will automatically assign correct address to work with the router it finds on the network (assigned by the router)

reading back i think i'm just repeating the previous poster

hi mate it's most likely the line is paired to your address it locks on where it was originally set up some sellers do this to stop you sharing or cloning the line, it would explain the log in message you were getting and would also explain it working back at yours. This is common enough with plug & play boxes

but a lot of people would have dynamic i.p.'s and turn routers off a lot...how would that work in that scenario?

Hi Doug I'M one of those people you mentioned, can't explain the wherewithal of it but I do know skybox displays log in message
if you are attempting a multiple connection on one line or if the line is only permitted server access thru it's original log in location.I know you would be more computer saavy than I but I do know this to be the case with certain sellers I've seen lines do it just can't explain how it's done mate

I've never come across this scenario tbh, more that likely his problem was simply a reboot of his router didn't occur. As has been said already, it's also possible that DHCP wasn't set to ON.

Hi Mate when i picked it up for the bloke i got it from
he had it connected to the tv he showed me it working all all channels ...
so when i got home i just connected all the wires & instant tv so i cannot see it locked to my I.P address or the line blocked....

Tried all this & still the same

I done a factory rest then without the net connected
installed all the correct software so the box should be running right ...DHCP enabled...then apply
Re-booted the router plugged the net in & rebooted the box

                    Still says login

Stumped at this & its not a problem but i hate it when something like this happens & cannot explain it

Hi mate simplest way is to ask the guy you got the box off if the line is requesting keys from his server or if he has security measures in place all sellers have some form of protection

It could be banned for attempting multiple logins.
